    Thoughts on this lease quote for a 2018 Accord 1.5T Touring:

    MSRP: 34,675.00
    Dealer Discount and Rebate: 8,372.00
    Vehicle Price (Net after Rebate): 26,303.00

    $321 with $1000 cash down for 36months/12k miles per year

    Really good price, if it includes sales tax, and $1000 is the total amount due at signing
    So the quote said $321without the 3M Door Edge & Cup Guards $295 option but I was told by the sales manager that the only cars they have left all have that option so it's $330 per month with tax with $1000 due at signing.

    Seems like a great deal to me for a fully optioned almost $35k car with all that tech! Do you agree sir?

    Are these good deals:
    1. 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid EXL: 28,392 + title + tax, or
    2. 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring: 31,719 + title + Tax

    Sales prices include destination and doc fee, not include $500 college rebate

    The MSRP for 2018 HAH EXL is 32,360, invoice is 29,646 while 2019 HAH Touring has MSRP 35,919 , invoice is 32,884. For the 2018 HAH EXL, it is about $350 better than what I paid in July last year.

    Which deal should I take?

    Thanks!
    Dominic

    No Brainer .....for me ......I'd buy the 2019 model its a better deal and a newer model. Wait till months end you will probably shave off a few more dollars.............. Re -negotiate on 27 & 28th .

    there is an extra $10/month in there somewhere. using your numbers (26600 sell price) and estimates of 400 for dmv and 9.5% tax rate, i get 818 das and 325/month. That extra 295 of bs dealer pad is not residualized (you pay for it all).

    Still a good deal and much better than the Q50 in terms of tech...GL

    Thank you, unfortunately i don't have the exact breakdown of all the numbers with the quote they gave me. However to be honest if I'm off by $10/month i think I'm ok with that as the other dealers in the area were asking for much higher prices for this. Considering how the stock is going down on the 2018s I think it's a good time to snag one at this deal!

    Thanks for the response! And totally agree that this touring has MUCH more tech than the Q50, specially at this price point and monthly payment :smile:

    Kind of off subject but I would be interested in the forum's opinion on a 2018 Sport 1.5t with 4000 miles that is certified pre-owned for $21,400 + $220 documentation fee and normal taxes, etc? Thank each of you because this forum has been very helpful.

    I've gotten the following quotes from dealers on a 2018 EX-L in the Bay Area:

    1) $26,980 ($2500 below invoice and says all incentives taken into account)
    2) $26,674 (excludes $900 incentive)

    A few dealers are still in the $28k range.

    I was thinking I could get better pricing. $2k under invoice plus $1900 incentives for leasing.

    Thoughts?

    Hi guys,

    I have this quote in South Florida for an EX 1.5T:

    2018
    $351 - monthly
    $773 - due at signing
    $25,502.87 - cap cost

    OR

    2018
    $375 - monthly
    $0 - due at signing
    $26,300.17 - cap cost

    Can you provide the MF/RV and incentives for the EX-L 1.5T for 36/15 in 33027? Wondering if I can get a better deal with that.

    There is no difference between those two quotes. Just rolling in the upfront money on the 2nd one.

    $1900 incentive

    @brian125 or @bluemkn57cars is the 3K below invoice, after the flex cash incentives?

    2- Buying @2700 below invoice price minus dealers doc fee charge will not exceed the depreciation hit you will take on a one year old vehicle today , or the 1st few years if vehicle is totaled or stolen, not to mention your Ins. deductible hit of 500/1000 which comes off the top of a stolen / totaled vehicle. . If above does not happen you have no worries.
    Before you buy I would negotiate your best deal on a 19 model then decide. Read my above post on how to call directly to dealers Int mgr.

    I use an ALG service and the depreciation difference between a New 2018 and New 2019 EX is 5%, but I only can get the numbers for 24 to 60 months from inception. For 3 years 2018 53% and 2019 58%. 5% of a ballpark $28k MSRP is $1,400 difference. I use a 3 year analysis.

    What is your source and numbers for the first year depreciation on Accords?

    Cheers

      I used to use sites like car fax , money zine, etc.  There are others you could reference . Honda’s hold good value but  Most vehicles depreciate close 20% of 1st year , after that the next 3 years it depreciates about 10 % .  A good average depreciation for a one year old  vehicle   Is about $2800, a bad one could go as high as 4/5 k in first year.
    Before giving my daughter my 2013 accord exl, v/6 with 3k miles on clock  in Jan, 2014  dealers best trade in was 4K lower than original price.

    @Edmunds true cost Accord depreciation 5 yr @15k miles is listed
    1yr= 4610
    2yr= 1761
    3yr= 1588
    4yr= 1791
    5yr= 1691

    The  question is a 2018 model driven off the lot in 2019 how much of the $4610  depreciation amount do you subtract for miles.

    Interesting numbers, I guess we need an insurance actuary to provide a first year mileage to value graph.

    I'm using based on a new car purchase, as is ALG. One happens to be 2018 the other 2019, and a starting mileage of 35 miles for each car.

    Using the 5% difference, even if the 2019 depreciates at 40% the first year and the 2018 45% the first year, the difference is still about $1,400 if purchased at the same price. 5% of $28k.

    If insurance uses a different basis for depreciation where the difference between the two years is greater than 5% then that would be nice to know.

    Cheers

    I mis understood your question . Yes 5% to 7 % is probably correct between each year.  I thought you were asking if you drove a 18 model off the lot  in feb , 2019, how much it depreciates from original price.

    Are you considering buying a 18 model ?

    Hunting down an 2.0 EX-L at the moment. Getting offers around $27,700 (w/o TTL). Hoping I can get OTD $28,000. I'll probably have better luck with a Sport but it's really not what I desire. Pretty sure I can argue the depreciation to get what I want. Crossing my fingers for a purchase before the end of the month.

    Drove home my first new car last week:
    Honda Accord EX-L 2.0
    Sale price: $27,650
    TTL: $3,254
    OTD: $30,904

    Took home, wheel splash guards, wheel locks, weather tech mats and what appears to be some more cloth mats in the trunk. I think I did alright.

    Located here in Southern California and there isn’t much budge on initial quotes on the 2018 Accord Ex.  One dealer actually quoted me the $267 less for the 2018 versus the 2019.... not sure how that makes sense.   But overall the quotes are about $800 less than the 2019 which doesn’t cover the depreciation costs.   I am definitely going for the 2019 hoping by the end of the month.

    I'm a bit late in responding, but got a 1.5T 2018 Accord last month for $0 at signing for 356 a month. I had the college graduate and loaylty rebates so I got to take an extra 1300 off the cost. Georgia taxes in 30301. I think I could have done better but had some costs forced on to me that I got too tired to argue against after 6 hours at dealership. I do have free oil changes and tire rotations for entire lease in there as well ($300 total capitalized). They screwed me on the protection package all tourings supposedly come with that includes wheel locks, trunk tray, etc for 895. Got them down on that but still a ripoff. Final contract that showed up in the mail had a 800 dealership fee which was nowhere to be found on what I signed for.

    I did manage to negotiate the price down to 26xxx something before they tacked the rest on, but they seemed to backdoor me quite a bit. Still, 356 with nothing at signing isn't horrible, just not amazing. The $295 guy above has literally posted on every single website about 2018 Tourings I read. He is anomaly. Don't go by that number.

    Anyway, barely used Accords aren't usually good deals, compared to new.

    Right - and my question still stands. Are the EPA ratings for the 2018 and 2019 Accords the same, or not?

    Again, don't they both have the same engine and transmission (1.5T and CVT)? Maybe I'm missing something here.

    If they have different engine, I can understand the different MPG numbers.

    For 2018, there was a 1.5 and a 2.0 Touring.

    But, for 2019, the Touring only comes with a 2.0 engine. Maybe, that is the issue?

    Hey all. Here in SoCal I found a dealer with four 2018 1.5T Tourings still on the lot. MSRP $34,675. Discounted price $28,790. I'm thinking I offer $26k as the car will basically be 2 years old when the 2020s hit the lots in a few months. I almost pulled the trigger on a 2019 Camry XSE 2.5 for $26,500, however the lack of Android Auto is an issue for me (though they claim it's coming). The Accord is new and has more bells and whistles but is a 2018. What do you think? I know it's my call, just trying to get some perspective. I typically drive my cars for at least 10 years, so resale is not a big concern.

    Yes, I do believe the MPG is the same between the 2018 and 2019.  I was comparing the MPG to the 2018 Touring 1.5 and the 2019 Accord EX.

    Again, don't they both have the same engine and transmission (1.5T and CVT)? Maybe I'm missing something here.
    19" wheels drop the mileage a bit compared to the 17" on the lower trims. I noticed this and asked the same question at the dealer.
