Wow the residual is lower than I expected on these cars... they are limited edition so shouldn't the residual be higher? I was hoping for 60% at least.

Generally, the more expensive a model, the less it's worth at lease end. This is typical.

Audis have fairly low residuals, anyway.

I have not contacted any yet. I might test drive one this weekend and I can get some numbers.

    .00236 and 53% for 36/15; add 1% for AudiCare

The tax credit is a huge help on your lease payment.

That said, with your prices, I get $1261/mo.

    My guess is that either:
    1. The adjusted cap cost is higher than the selling price, or
    2. The MF has been marked up

Ask the dealer to provide both of those numbers they used for their $1380/mo quote.

Trying to hit a home run with those MF.

Tell them you won't sign a deal unless you get the base MF.

However, given the rareness of the RS5 SB, you may have to pay that if you want one badly enough.

Thank you so much for your help. After all I’ve gone through with this dealership (quoting me 1700/m initially) - I’m debating whether it’s worth it to proceed with them at all. They only started bringing numbers down once I started throwing lease terms at them. Is there incentive for them to lease to me by tomorrow since it’s the end of the quarter?

Wondering if it’s worth it to wait a few months for bmw’s 2020 models.

The Audi programs run through Monday, so you've got a few days.

And, you'll have to wait for the 2020 BMW's to be released before you can make that decision. I don't see the numbers on the Audi getting that much worse.

At that price, you could have a 60 month loan for the same payment.

.00223 MF and 51% residual. (52% residual if you bought AudiCare)
Single Pay should have dropped the money factor to .00163 base.

    What is your location?
Other than the apparently marked up money factor, doesn't look too bad.

hi thanks for the info! I am in Charleston SC. 29401. When I asked a few days after leasing I was told the MF was .00223 and residual was 52%. I did a very large single pay and dont think I got any credit for it. I emailed both the sales guy and the dealership mgr last week but they have not replied other than the sales guy saying that he passed my concerns onto management. Still no reply. My purchase interest rate (before I changed my mind to lease was 3.9 %. Can you explain how the marked up MF has affected me expense wise? What recourse is there at this point? Thanks for your help! Love your site, btw. I have used Edmunds for ever to review cars.

It's very possible the dealer marked up the MF before adjusting it down for the single-pay.

Roughly $75/mo difference between the two payments, or about $2700 total for the one-pay lease.

If you've signed the papers and taken delivery, there's not much recourse, legally.

You can, however, present yourself at the dealer and see if they will be reasonable, for customer satisfaction purposes, and rewrite the contract.

Thanks- I think you meant, that the dealer may have adjusted the MF upward adn left it there. Even with teh single pay it was .0023 (as I have since learned) and not .0163.
Any thoughts on recourse for the defective garage door opener?

If you did single pay, the .00060 reduction has to be made.
If your actual rate ended up being .00223, then the dealer marked up the rate by .00060, before giving you the .00060 deduction for single pay.

Ask the dealer to send someone to your house to program the garage door opener. I doubt you have any recourse. Make sure that you don't have LED bulbs in the garage.

Thank you. Don't know if it changes anything but this is the reply I got from the dealer: "You ask about verification on the savings on the one pay lease and reviewing your rate was .00232 the rate range on this audi RS5 is .00212 to .00337 the savings was around $2749.00. Also the price on the vechicle was MSRP $87940 and the sales price you negotiate was $80,765."
At my request they are going to send a tech over to check out the garage door. They have admitted that there is a software glitch (too much external electronic interference from the car) that causes the garage door problem. Can't believe there is no recourse considering they knew of the problem in advance. I'll review the car on your site and point that out. It is otherwise a fantastic car, so far, I think. Just wish I had bought instead of leased. Have you ever heard of a dealer voiding a lease (30 days from signing) at the customers request and doing a full purchase instead?

The money factor reply is just doublespeak. They marked up your rate, before giving you a single-pay discount. Likely, they would have marked up your rate, in any case.

What difference would it have made if you bought the car? Even though it's leased, you can still sell it. And, take a massive hit to your wallet, just like you would if you owned it.

I'd give the tech a chance at it. Maybe, it will all work out.

Thanks for the reply. The difference in buying the car, it seems to me, is that I would have avoided the $10,300 "rent charge" altogether (plus the $895 lease acquisition fee [they also charged a $450 closing fee which seems more appropriate, if at all, with a sale not a lease) The financing would have been at 3.9 % on the remaining balance of approximately $36,000. Seems like a big savings there, plus I would have liekly paid it off entirely over the next 6 months or so.
I will definitely give the tech a chance on the door opener.. That's appropriate.
    Thanks

The rent charge is the total amount, if you pay all of the payments. You don't pay rent charge for payments you haven't made. Yes, you are out the $895 acquisition fee, because you leased. If you sell the car before lease is up, there is no disposition fee.

In either case, selling the car early will be a massive loss, whether you lease or buy.
