I always loved the RSX. But I think my 2 door sporty coupe days are over. Well, for a regular car. But I love that color, and it would make a fine toy. I think it is overpriced though.

The Type-S is a gorgeous color, but I'd take the TL every day over it. Did the 2004+ TLs even have the defective automatics? I thought the 1998-2003 ones were most affected.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 50,539
it was still hit or miss. certainly in the Odyssey. I think the TL just did not have as much stress so lasted better

I thought all the manuals were type S? Or was that not true in the first year of the run?

I do love that generation TL. Best of the bunch. I remember test driving when the first came out, a stick and an AT. A much nicer version of my 5 speed maxima SE. though I recall thinking at the time the AT fit the car better.

No, pretty certain a manual was available throughout the 3G TL's entire run. The wheels are what threw me off at first, as the TL-S wasn't introduced until 2007.

What are they asking for that 2016? A dealer near me has this Black 2019 Ex-Rental 4Runner TRD Sport Premium with 18K miles listed for $34,6 (plus they have an outrageous conveyance fee).

I've gotten rid of a few cars over my lifetime (not as many as many here!).

2 cars I drove for quite some time were dumped on my parents to do the "getting rid of it honors." I believe both were traded in.
    1. 1st car I bought new I sold private party. 1st used car "we" bought I sold private party as well. Started 2 for 2 there!
    2. 2nd car I bought new sold private party, sounds like 3 for 3, but then there's my wife... so:
    3. First Honda is see above, but 2nd Honda got totalled.... dropped off at the body shop by tow truck. 3rd Honda sold to Carmax (guess that's a trade-in too, with an ***). Might need to call these sales "used car buyers" or something different.

    4. Traded in my 2nd Audi.
    5. Sold the VW in a diesel buyback by dealership.
    6. Sold the next VW to CARVANA!!! ***

Problem is, the dealers seem to be setting their own market. Search nationwide for that vehicle and you can't find one advertised for less than $17k with fewer than 100k miles. At least, that's what I found on cargurus.

Hi: I was wondering if qbrozen would be so kind to share his expertise on this Cadillac CT6?

I'm a tad baffled by the CarFax. It indicates it was a corporate vehicle, but I see no service history. Should I be concerned? And according to research elsewhere here at Edmunds, the asking price is in the ballpark. Especially since it is Certified. Car looks to be in excellent condition from the pictures.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the carfax. You can always have the dealer pull the service records.

Price is nuts. Top of the mark at auction is $40k. Even as a CPO, I wouldn’t be able to go higher than $44k, personally.

SIL has a lease coming due. considering buying out her current lease, but I don't think it makes sense. so checking for RW numbers (trade and guesstimate of what should pay retail if possible). I am waiting for her to find out the residual still.

2017 Acura RDX. White. about 36,000 miles. original tires. Probably needs some reconditioning (bumper scrapes from city parking, stuff like that, which I doubt she had addressed). Generally beat up a smidge, but probably just needs a serious detail.

AWD, but base model (no tech package).

    On Long Island.

She is having sticker shock when I tell her what leases are going for these days. She got a steal last time on this one (large part to QB coming up with a trade in value for her trashed MDX).

Probably about $19.5k, maybe $20k trade. Fair retail would be around $24k’ish.

thanks. Though I think that is light on the asking. I will double check Carvana again and cars.com

I think her residual is upper 20s. Already told her it does not make much sense. without money to put down, payment is going to be sky high anyway.

edit: I was wrong. this is pretty much the same car, in nicer condition, for about that.

Check the reviews on that dealer - apparently they add a hefty "safety and reconditioning fee" to their advertised prices.

Traded my 2017 Fusion in a couple of weeks ago.
Car went on the dealer website for about a week, but never got to the point of having a price or pictures posted, before it dropped off.
Not sure if they sold it or wholesaled it.
Can you see if it went through an auction if I give you the VIN?
    I'm curious.

Sometimes, but not often. The only time a VIN seems to work is when it is currently in the system. If it went through in the past, I can only see color, condition, miles, etc.

Assuming “great” really means great and no past paintwork, its about $17k trade. Figure $20k-$21k fair retail purchase price.

For 2018, Ford finally fixed the auto tranny lugging issue and every new 2018 Focus we got at Hertz, most were the Titanium model, drove perfectly. Tanny shifted as it should with no hard shudder even once. I was able to drive a bunch of them and all worked like they should. A shame Ford has discontinued the Focus hatch because I was seriously considering buying a 2020 if they were still available. Now I drive a VW Golf, a 2015 SE model, and it drives beautifully. I don't really like most domestic vehicles but, I was seriously considering getting a new Focus next year, a Titanium hatchback, until I was told Ford won't be producing anymore. Now if a diehard import lover would even consider a Ford product is strange at first glance. It just proved to me how Ford finally got this vehicle right after denying there was an issue for years. Many lawsuits were filed I'm sure as those earlier ones were hideous vehicles.
Now, I might have to check out the new Ford Escape as I like the looks. Now, the 2014 Escape just barely fit on my side of the garage and if it's the same size, the 2020 won't fit properly either I'm afraid. And the EcoSport is just too downright slow for me, has no get up and go like my turbo charged VW Golf does. And I want a vehicle that can go when I mash on that accelerator! I mean GO!

Best thing to do check is get the online car buyers to give you an instance quote add another 15-20% and you more or less know what you can get for it when you sell privately. Think you should be able to get upto 12k if you re a bit lucky and styaing in an urban area.

Percentages don’t work when prices can vary so greatly. I, for one, am not going to pay 20% markup on a $50k used car.
