What’s the blue wagon with hood up? First thought it was an MB but doesn’t look right. Maybe an Opel?

I'm having trouble w that one too. My first thought was Volvo but it's too small, no bigger than the Mustang a few lanes over. WAG=Datsun Bluebird (410 or 510)>

Wagon has me a little stumped too. Definitely not a MB, I don't think it is a Datsun either. Kind of gives me a Studebaker vibe, but the rear lights aren't what I recall. I think this is one of those we'll thinking "of course!" when it is figured out.

We had a white with turquoise blue interior, 71 Datsun 510 wagon in the late 70s. Dad bought it to keep the miles off their newer 76 Cutlass Supreme wagon. My parents commuted 75 miles each way to work. The Datsun was a decent car, noisy, basic transportation. At 100k it was basically worn out, rusting in the rockers, torn upholstery, worn out carpet, broken hood release. Yet it soldiered on with some repair to 160k when dad sold it. I saw it two years later driving past our house.

Yep, Crown wagon. Extraordinarily rare, sold in the USDM for only a few years.

I think in most of NA back in the day, they'd rust out before they could break down.

So did all the other '69 Cutlasses.

That '68 in pale yellow with a black vinyl roof is in the other color combo I seriously considered making mine over into back in '93 when I bought it.

Further to @fintail 's comment, I see either a '69 or '70 Olds Delta 88 in traffic just past the broken-down wagon, what I believe is a Butternut Yellow '69 Impala sport coupe in the shaded lanes to the right, and just ahead of it may be a '70 Buick Skylark. I am stumped by the yellow taxi just back of those - the rear bumper suggests a sort of W-shape in plan view but I can't pin it down.

In 1958 the Corvette, along w everything else went to four headlights after that there was little change to the front until the C2 came out in '63.

There's a one year styling feature of this blue honeymoon car that pinpoints the MY.

I assume you're guessing 1961 because it was the yr they transitioned from Ponton to Fintail designs. As for oddities, there's a Gullwing coupe near center (replaced by the SL roadster in '58 IIRC). A little ahead of it is a DKW (F102?).

Yup, it's the 1958 'Vettes that had the fake louvers on the front hood as well as chrome strips
on the trunk. The '59 and '60 cars were nearly identical. I don't know a good way to distinguish one from the other.

The only Vette convertibles I'm ever sure about are the '62 and '73.

1961 was the first year of 4 cyl fintails - there's but one in the pic. 6 cyl models debuted in 1959.

Aside from the DKW, there's a Rolls-Royce product or two in the background, far right.

Ah, you hit on my favorite Corvette trivia question - The easiest way to determine a '59 from a '60.
Seat pleats on the '59 - side to side. On the '60 - front to back.

I wonder how much longer the new groom kept the Corvette until he traded it for something practical? Can you say little ones?

He probably ended up in the 60s equivalent of a bloated CUV/SUV - a wood paneled wagon. But maybe he opted for the big block.

from the Greyhound sign, is that the old 42nd st port authority? Not sure if Greyhound went out of there..

Yep, it's the old Penn Station, built in 1910, demolished just after the photo was taken in October 1963. It was such an ignorant, greedy affront to great architecture that it's destruction kick-started the preservation movement.

Being in the old station was an experience that I fondly remember>

The current Penn Station is completely underground below the current Madison Square Garden.

Both the new Garden and Station are drab uninspired spaces obviously built as cheaply as possible. Numerous plans have been put forward to rebuild the old Post Office and Pennsylvania Station as well as relocating MSG,

Ranchero on the right is possibly a 59 by what I can see of the tailgate. Something possibly foreign behind the Ranchero, appears to have a reverse C-pillar/rear window, maybe a 105E Anglia.

I'm sure that's a '59 Ranchero, seldom seen in the NYC area. I thought that was a 140ish Volvo behind the Ranchero but they didn't come along til 66,

You must have x-ray vision, There's a pole blocking the C-pillar.

Dunno what's in front of the Ford. My first thought was a 1949-42 MoPar but it's too small.

The last New York Auto Show I missed was in 1991.
Before leaving NYC by train, we always stop to eat at a Sbarro's which is located where that Greyhound bus station was as shown in the photo.

It was very sad when they demolished the old Penn Station. One of those eagles is still on location, now at street level, and one of those original stair cases is still used within the new Penn Station.
My favorite NYC building is Grand Central Terminal. I could give a nice informative tour of all public access areas in it. Unfortunately, they are now drilling through the floor of the historic Biltmore Room to make a stair case going down to a subway platform below. All the many politicians and movie stars who arrrived in NYC by train in the '30s, '40s, and 50s passed through that Biltmore Room and now it will be altered. Sad.

Interesting car in that pic is parked on the street at right, facing camera, behind a 36 Ford coupe. A large Lincoln phaeton (Model K?), sidemounts, roughly same age as the Ford, possibly a V12 model.

I think the convertible Chevy II was only offered in '62 and '63, and was dropped for '64.

Well you're half-right, the car furthest from camera is the 2020 version of the Audi RS6 Avant
and it's the RS Avant that Audi has ever offered in the US. The smaller car is a 1992 Audi RS2 Avant, the progenitor of the RS series. It was based on the Audi 90 (B4) chassis and co-developed with Porsche which modified much of the mechanics-engine, brakes, suspension, turbo etc.
