2011 hyundai accent it goes in 3rd gear an reverse u can drive it down the road. but does not down shift into 1st gear an does not start out in first gear shifter moves ok. car just goes in 3rd gear

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but sounds like you need a transmission rebuild. But first, check the transmission fluid. If it’s low, smells burnt change it out and see if that helps.

    Has anyone connected a scan tool and pulled codes from all of the modules in the car? If so can you list them?
