I had a 2015 Q40 AWD (rebadged G37) for 2 years that I absolutely LOVED! It was a blast to drive. I feel like any high horsepower RWD platform car is going to chew through brakes. Once the tires are even 40% worn, the traction control is going to kick in even when it rains. That chews up the pads.

Hmmmm... I tracked mine and never had any brake issues.

I reckon the carfax will tell that story. I'm thinking this is a car that can be driven a long time, but there will be costs. Knowing the history will help set the price but meanwhile, what do these go for? It's not like the auction result have all that information, either. I'm going to go out on a limb and say low $3s in good condition -- "2011 Subaru Impreza hatch automatic 2.5 120k blue."

If it were me and I needed transportation while I concentrate on a new job, I'd go for the white 2012 Toyota Avalon Limited with 132k for $6,900 and try to get a few hundred dollars off. One owner since it came off lease in 2013. Probably not going to happen.

It's going to the mechanic for a look-see tomorrow, and with any luck that'll seal the deal. Just in time, too. Tax season is here.

The Carfax has tons of oil changes, cabin air filter replacements, trans fluid was changed at 60k... and at 105k, right on schedule, timing belt and idler pulley "checked." Not changed, checked. I'm thinking with all the other maintenance that's been done it's a data entry error, but I'll ask the mechanic to make sure.

Probably. I see a lot of goofy things on those reports like “checked tires” every other oil change when you know they were probably rotated.

Hi. My lease is about to end, i exceeded the mileage by 15k so it might be better to buy the car out. Its a 2016 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Big Horn 4x4 5.7 Hemi equipped with backup camera, parking sensors, navi, bluetooth, 12v outlet, heated premium cloth seats. It has 54k miles. My lease buyout is $26800. Is it worth it?

if you want to lease a replacement, good chance that a Ram dealer will just make the miles go away.

People get nuts about going over their lease miles. It’s really not a big deal or a huge expense in the grand scheme of things. Just pay up and move on. Lease another FCA vehicle and they might do something with a portion or all of the over miles.

I wouldn't want to keep it to be honest but I would have to pay $0.40 per mile so thats $6k. The best lease deal offer that I got was $450/mo for the same car (new). I was paying $320/mo for this lease. I dont think I can come any close to my current deal.

.$.40 a mile? wow. That is high end Euro territory. My Acura is on $.20, and most cars (I think even BMW) are no more than a quarter.

that is actually a good price if they are eating the miles. Real payment is closer to $285, for a redesigned truck that is supposed to be a big upgrade. If, of course, you want one. And might look into getting more miles this lease!

Not even close to worth it. Of course, you have to weigh all your options. You would be able to buy it retail for $24-$25k. So maybe $2k overpayment isn’t so bad vs $6k in miles plus disposal plus potential wear and tear charges. Maybe carvana/vroom would offer $22k and you pay $4800.

this one is still around. I know you hated the radio. Kid probably would not mind it though! Plus always fixable if you want. Cheaper, fewer miles, and new top are a bonus.

i still think this is a weird car to get for a teenager. But that is just me. I actually test drove one back then (before I got my tC. One thing I do know. Visibility to sides and rear with the top up, is pretty much a theoretical concept. And (Driver, cover your eyes) no BU camera to help. Might want to invest in one of those aftermarket jobs.

He taught her to drive on 2018 Chevy 2500 Diesel. The Solara should be easy to drive in comparison.

No good comes from mollycoddling young girls. Mine only ever had a stick shift to learn on and drive.
I would not choose a 3/4 ton truck for learning, but if that's what's available, deal with it.

Hey q, I'm trying to help a coworker replace a car that was totaled, any info on this, it looks like a lease turn in to the local dealer so I don't think it went through auction but with an RX350 I would imagine there's plenty of comps.

In CT, 2017 Ford F150 Limited.
They are all black exterior/saddle/black interior and loaded(pano roof, heated/cooled/massage seats, all around view camera, adaptive cruise w/eab, 22 inch wheels, 3.5 EB).

Has these additional options:

Hello. My 2016 Ram 1500 lease is about to end, my buyout price is $25900, dealer offers $19000 as a trade-in. I am considering to pay my overmileage fee and returning it or buying it out. I have one last week to make a decision. Include colours, in and out, mileage, your location, options and general conditions (tires, etc.). This is what's necessary to establish the value of the vehicle at auction, which is the starting point for all of this.

$19k is really light. I could see $21k from carvana/vroom. But that’s still not going to help you. So what is the charge? 20 cents? $3k in overage plus disposal plus wear and tear. Least expensive route would be private sale for about $23k-$23.5k.

If in good shape like you say, $6k is soft. Should be at least $500 more on a trade. I’d push for $7k. You might do better with carvana/vroom given the somewhat low miles. Private party should be in the $9k zip code.

Thanks, KBB had about $6300 so i was trying to go a little soft. i'll try and get more and use it to pay the dmv fees and lease down then get a check for the rest.

good grief. Well, even if clean and well cared for, the most it would get at dealer auction is $3k. Personally, I think anything over $5k is crazy talk.

I'm not surprised, and I'm not at all sure someone won't pony up $7,xxx for it.

My favorite hooptie dealer has, for instance, a 2014 Cruze LT2, leather, auto, 87k miles.
It sat a while at the Subaru/VW dealer as a "good deal" per CarFax pricing for $8,600. A joke.
Now it's at the cheap lot for $3,900. It'll sell this week, I'm sure.
I mention this to point out he's fundamentally reasonable.

On the same lot, a 2009 Outback Limited with 110k, clean, $5,250. That'll sell also, and maybe it's not crazy, though come on, it's 11 years old, going on 12. AND it's a Subaru, so head gaskets & stuff.

But the kicker is a really nice looking 2012 Outback 3.6 Limited with, get this, 233k miles.
Like I said, it's nice. Per carfax, maintenance was done religiously until 120k, then maybe not so much except oil changes on schedule. It's supposed to drive "really nice" and the price is $4,100. I'd pay $2,500 if I really liked it and had a plan how to keep it running. I'm sure it'll be gone soon.
