    I have a 2017 CX5 AWD Touring with 16000 miles. about 5 months left on lease.
    Dealer I leased this from said he would get me into a new one now.

    $32427 selling price less $750 loyalty $31677 cap cost
    $365 with taxes 36/10k
    Do not know how they take mine in on trade rather then as a lease return. Says mine is worth more then the payoff

    I'm not sure I'd believe the dealer on the value of your current vehicle. Use Carvana, Vroom and Carmax to get a solid opinion of what your car is worth, then call your bank to find the payoff. That way, you'll know exactly the position you're in.

    Rarely are leases set up to give you positive equity - most dealers will simply roll the remaining payments into the new deal, and you'll end up paying for a car you aren't driving.

    If it were me, I'd wait until your lease is up, then go shopping. Lots of uncertainty in the world now, no reason to make a hasty decision.
