I made the mistake of looking at my 401(k) quarterly statemenet, this morning. Down 17% for the quarter.

But, I agree that the dollar cost averaging works to my advantage, going forward. Hoping the market rebounds in the next 8-10 years before I contemplate retirement.
I don’t even look at my main investment portfolio. I just assume it’s down 20-25% with the rest of the market.

For my little work 401k it couldn’t be worse. I got my profit sharing (which is deposited into the 401k) just before the crash and now without a paycheck there’s no contributions to dollar cost average. If they ever call us back the contributions will buy into a higher market.

and this one, not that I would buy it (no moonroof, no sale! and a little pricey) I threw in because of the interesting color combo. Sport seats look super comfy

I love the color combos. Looks like a great set up, even without the roof (moonroof in small car is often a recipe for cramped quarters!). But, automatic? Boo. :(

Thought I'd give a quick update on the 4Runner after having it for a few weeks. The oldest has pretty much taken it under his wing. I had mentioned a few days after getting it that he had replaced a few bulbs and polished the headlights. One of our first evening drives revealed that the backlight for the multi-info display was out along with the backlights on a few of the knobs. He found the fix on YouTube so after a run to the Toyota dealer, he had it apart, fixed and all back together, even ran it down for an oil/filters change which he said he'd pay for but I took care of it. I think the Pilot has left the garage only a few times since this all started, seems I have a new driver for our limited trips for food, groceries, etc. And still feel very good with the deal as well, I've been looking at adding one more for them to share but haven't come across anything as good as this one for now, but we have time :)

A nice place to be in if you aren’t already retired, as we are, and drawing down that $ rather than putting $ in. However, most recessions have been of much shorter duration. I’m trying to stay optimistic! As Mark Rylance’s character says in Bridge of Spies when asked if he’s worried, “Would it help?”

I do synmpathize for those of you living off previous investments; here's hoping for a speedy economic recovery.

I'm fortunate that my mother has my dad's FD pension as her primary source of income; she collects both spousal and survivor benefits, so she's comfortable. She also gets a small SS check, each month.

I always find it strange to see a real truck SUV with fancy off road tech and capability riding on spindly wheels and low profile tires. And yes I realize they are bought just for posing, but still looks ridiculous.

Funny thing, that's not the pointlessly fake-sporty spindly wheel variety, that's a "base" model (which is what I would choose, even I think an AMG G is silly).

I honestly never got April Fools' jokes. I mean, not most of them, anyway. I think the problem is that they often fail to be jokes at all, but rather minor lies that are totally plausible. Its like running 1.5 miles and telling everyone you ran 2 miles! HaHa! April Fool!

A bit more optimistic than most right now. Probably going to do one last dollar cost averaging session come weeks end or start of next week. Once things come back, think it'll happen quicker than many think as folks will be so ready.
Did run into a rather sad situation earlier. Had to pick up my scripts, so stopped by the local Kentucky Fried across the street. Got my order from the drive-thru with no issue. Pulled around and a Mercedes had stopped right in front of the store, blocking traffic. I came around with someone behind me and we stopped. After a reasonable amount of time, I honk my horn so he'd move up a bit so I could get around him as well as the guy on my tail. Why he didn't back into a space was just crazy.
He creeps up like a foot and now the guy behind me is starting to go around me but another vehicle is coming the opposite way, so he had no where to go. Finally got around and asked hm why he just didn't move over a bit as he saw the mess he had made. Yelled at me that he was waiting on his order and to "f k" the rest of us waiting! Just drove away shaking my head. Just showed me that many folks haven't changed through all this. It's still a "me first" attitude for many and screw everybody else.
Definitely time to get back to normal as I think if this goes on much longer, many folks are just going to "loose it" and bad things might happen! A very sad time we're living through!

Or we could rise to the occasion and behave better! We are not getting out of this any time soon, so we will all have to adjust. Maybe stop going through chain drive through and just support your local restaurants by getting carry out from them. Or buying gift cards to use in the future.

Given that we still use paper files at my office, working from home requires a lot of additional steps and there’s a lot more overhead. Print a document, get a message from someone at the office that it has no file number, look up the file number and give it to them so they know where to file it, etc. Supposedly, court filings are down, but I’ve gotten two new files this week (the average at my job is 2-3, but I’d rather be at 1, because I got hit with a bunch of transfers when the last person quit and still have a very high caseload).
