Is the MF set? A NJ dealer quoted me .00175 - which was "not flexible".

ALL I need is a 3 pc hardtop, auto trans, powerwindows. Don't need any other trim whatsoever.

Is it insane to think the price should be 36k or under in this economy?

Should I stick to NY dealers?

If they are quoting .00175 MF, then it isn't a Chrysler Capital lease, and we don't have the programs.

Etch and document are just padding, but it's the whole deal that counts. You might stay in NY, and save $600 in fees, but if the price is $800 higher, then it won't matter.

I tried to negotiate a lease today, 4dr Wrangler Unlimited Sport S, Model Code: JLJL74, MSRP = 41,570. My zip code is 11570. All of the dealer's ads show discounts/rebates totaling $4531.

For 39 months / 10K miles I was quoted $329 per months and $3000 down (which would include 1st month, acquisition, taxes, registration, dealer fees). Thought the $3000 was a bit much and they were not interested in going lower so I walked.

Am I asking for too much? I would have accepted $329 per month and $1800 - $2000 down.

Thanks for your help and any input you may have!

I offered $1775 down and $329 month / 39 months. The did not seem willing to negotiate after that so I left.

I apologize, but I do not understand how you came to $398 a month.

I figured:

Adjusted Capital Cost = 37,039 (MSRP less discounts/rebates)

Residual = 30,762 (74% of MSRP)

Rent Charge = $161 a month ($6277 total)

Finance Charge = $155 a month ((Adjusted + Residual) * .00229 MF)

So a total $316 a month + $27 in tax = Total Monthly $343.00

If I went with the original $1775 and bumped my monthly to $343, I think that would be a fair deal.

Perhaps my calculations or reasoning is wrong? Please let me know.

Anything you don't pay up front will be added to the negotiated price to get the adjusted cap cost - fees, taxes, etc.

The Wrangler has a decent lease program for longer terms (39,42 and 48 months), but the MF does change, as well.

The longer the term, the higher the likelyhood that consumable items like brakes and tires will need to be replaced.
