I just fit in the Miata NC - the ND isn't as comfortable for me. The TT roadster is nicely packaged with good people room, a nice trunk size for a tour while still being something like 165" long. I like the look, too. Carplay isn't standard, so keep an eye out for the package that includes it. I was looking at this one -

Had the Outback in for 1 year maintenance. 5k miles. Probably 3000 off our norm because of COVID.

Only abnormality is some coolant needed to be added. Seems strange for 5k miles. Something to keep an eye on.

My Subaru dealer is emailing me weekly about coming in for service. I think we've put 3-4K on it since the last one, so I don't feel like I'm in too much of a hurry.
I’m only being particular because it’s a lease and I don’t want to get dinged for it later.

Sadly, it will likely be a far cry from my SA, who tells me things like "You have a power steering hose seeping a bit, I wouldn't replace it until it starts to drip- and that probably won't happen for another 50,000 miles."

I like the Lada, but I wonder where it came from, and that bodywork scares me a bit. Those were sold in Canada well into the 90s, and although they can rust , I know there are survivors, I used to see them in BC not infrequently.

About a month or so ago, I had my wife bring her Pilot to the dealer for an oil change & tire rotation. In addition to that, the car called for a rear differential fluid change which I declined. They also said the brakes are dangerously low and needed to be replaced immediately. I politely declined knowing that I was going to bring it to my
Mechanic in the not too distant future. He checked the brakes & said there is still 20% pad life left. You should be good for another 8-10K miles. He said to bring it in if they start squealing or shuddering.

OF, spoke with my lead and no word on coming back. He did say North Florida is back to work so am thinking that possibly June 1st could be our first day back. Just wondering how many of those sitting vehicles are dead and will need to be jumped? Not complaining about getting UI each week, but would rather be out driving somewhere than stuck here at home. Only good thing is I've maybe driven the Golf 100 miles these past two months and used almost no petrol! And all plans to replace the Golf have now been shelved because it ain't necessary at this juncture. The 0% financing does look tempting though, as I've never been able to time any purchase when the 0% was in effect.

Oh I’m definitely considering a TTS as well. If I decide to go with a coupe, it seems they are only $2-3k higher than a regular TT coupe, so I’m sure I’d kick myself if I didn’t.

I figured as my search got more serious I’d hit you up for info on your experience and any suggestions on what to look for in a TTS. They all seem to be pretty similar other than the wheels and maybe seats. What year is yours and is there a particular year to target (or avoid)?

Those dead batteries are a pain but it’s a lot easier up here jumping them in June than in January.

Took the Tundra for a spin this afternoon to burn up some miles on my lease. It seems to have some sort of torque management in place, as the 1-2 shift occurs below 5,000 RPM, which is well short of the redline.

Bought a ratcheting cargo bar with a net for holding things in place in the bed. Should work well for stuff which doesn't have to be protected from the weather, or for pretty much anything when it's not raining.

I think the redesigned 2021 or 2022 Tundra will have a variant of the twin-turbo V6 from the Lexus LS as the volume engine. Not sure whether they will offer a hybrid or plug-in.

I obviously took the Pilot to work on Friday. It drives great compared to my truck. Instead of taking an Uber to work from the mechanic, I put the rack on the back of the Pilot and rode the 2.62 miles to work and then 2.62 miles back after work at the end of the day. Saved money, got some exercise.

I’m trying to avoid investing in a tonneau cover since it’s only a 24 month lease and there is supposed to be a redesigned model at the time I would get a replacement, so even if I planned to lease another one, it’s unlikely the cover would fit it.
