    I didn't know until recently that TRX wheels were an option on the awful 1980-82 T-Birds. Ford went all-in on those in that era.

    Interestingly, my fintail has the same option on its vehicle history code (and in the logbook, the first service was performed at the factory). I am not sure if my car was also a Euro delivery, but might have been - I have no documentation showing that, however, I suspect an owner could have just asked for it. And yeah, a little expensive for the time, must have been more than an oil change. Maybe something to research, just what exactly was the break in service.

    Cheaper to buy one like that than to renovate a neglected car. Only problem is that you can't drive it too much, as mileage and condition make the price. But for a Sunday cruiser and MBCA show car (people will appreciate it, 126s have a real following now), one could do worse. I sometimes think if I got another old car, a 126 would be a strong candidate.

    90's Chrysler's were the heyday of planned obsolescence engineering at mile 36,001, so yes, 65K way past life expectancy.

    65K is about the mileage my Neon was sold at, but it would have been much wiser to get rid of it around mile 50, 36,000 miles, 44,000 miles, and 59,000 miles. We were young and dumb.

    Those mileage correspond to the following respectively, first tow truck trip, AC compressor soon to go out, head gaskets soon to go out, and auto transmission soon to need a rebuild.

    I see that Europa G is an apparent flip from a Mecum auction not long ago. BaT is like the flipperverse now, often things even being flipped from BaT itself. A movement which has harmed the first time buyer real estate market is now in the car world, wonderful.

    Regarding the G, before they became bedazzled, it was kind of the same idea as a Land Rover Defender. Now it is split, you get those who want it for off road potential (even if like with most Defenders) and classic image, it is never ever used), and those who just want to be seen.

    Funny, I recall the T&C my dad bought in 97-98 (usually I am good with dates, but I was away at school, can't recall exactly) puked a transmission in its first 6 months, but after it was replaced, was relatively trouble-free. My brother had a 96 Neon, and he knew it wasn't long for this world even by the time it was 6-7 years old, he was happy when it was claimed by an old Sedan DeVille that ran a red light.

    I think wheels closer to the era of the car, along with more correct upholstery (Caddys could have nice interiors then) would work better.

    But I guess if you can get it cheap enough, you can undo some of the prior owner's questionable choices.

    LOL! The oil changes are not so bad, but changing any of the "belts" is. Still, pretty low miles, they don't usually grenade until after 100K when the timing belt breaks. Of course, age is known to destroy rubber belts as much as miles do.

    Still, for someone that wants a V8 manual transmission wagon, how many other choices do you really have?

    I love small wagons. Even better with a manual. But have no particular need for a V8. a smaller engine with a good balance of performance and economy would be just fine. A BMW 325i RWD manual, perfect.

    S4 wagon is an admirable survivor as so many have been ruined by questionable mods and neglect, but the ownership experience scares me as much as the thought as an early 00s V12 MB.

    Even I am not brave enough. Nothing with regular maintenance that starts with “step 1, remove engine” would be tempting enough for me, save maybe a ferrari.
