    Oh wow it must be my lucky day because this dealer just sent me this:

    The money factor is .0026 which equals about 6.24% if you were to convert it an interest rate. The residual @10k / year for 36 months is 65% ($24,668) and @ 10k / yr for 39 months is 64% ($24,289)

    ….so is it my lucky day? Or did he make a mistake?

    It's likely this isn't a VW Credit lease. VW has some special money factors for loyalty customers, but the residuals shouldn't be different, and these aren't even close.

    How's your dad doing?
    My dad is doing quite well! He is still wheelchair-bound, but he is back as a practicing physician (2 days per week) and clinical faculty at a couple of teaching hospitals (3 days). He is almost 71. My new stepmother is 49. She is a nurse, and she is driving around a 2008 Yaris that cannot fit the wheelchair or their belongings. The vehicle is also in profound disrepair and is frankly dangerous.

    I sold my Cayenne to a local dealership a couple of weeks ago and they went to try to buy it back yesterday despite my discouragement. Unsurprisingly, they were not able to work out a reasonable deal and the salesman started trying to sell them an Atlas Cross Sport, something I'd recommended previously due to tailgate size. They liked it. I camped out at the Mazda dealership and took a look at a CX-9 and was reasonably impressed. I haven't checked your numbers on that forum, but from what I understand, that's going to be a pretty competitive lease for the price point of ~$50k.
