There have never been any "cast iron" con rods used in American engines. Ductile iron, Powdered Metal, and Steel Forgings yes, but cast iron never. It wouldn't last long enough to drive out of the lot. Not familiar with the GM incident that you refer to but know from working at GM that v-6 engines were made by Buick in the 60's. That is the engine that evolved into the venerable 3.8 L that is still around.
P.S. I have about 4000 miles on my new LHS and love it. Runs great, rides well and looks super.
How do you like your LHS??
Were you asking me how I liked my LHS, or someone else?
I thought the big problem with the Olds Diesel 350 was camshafts and head gaskets?? It was a bad decision to drop that engine on the public without sufficient testing. They also introduced a V-6 diesel in the 1980's that wasn't a bad engine but didn't sell because of the bad rep from the 350.
Sorry for my lack of clarification. I do not own an LHS, I just bought a Y2K Intrepid ES.

GM screwing the customer forever!!!!
i had a 78 cutless supreme, same problem, first transmission went at 20,000 miles, second, installed by dealer, at 40,000 miles, third transmission, installed by aamco, was still going strong when i got rid of the car at 80,000 miles(makes you wonder) , for a 1993 eagle vision.subsequently got rid of a 1987 cutless ciera, whose only problem was a faulty water pump, for a 1994 eagle vision, as i loved eagles the sheet metal.
total repairs on the '93 and '94, 2 transmissions, a catalytic converter, engine computer, alternator, abs module, defective wheel rims and window seals, and various electrical problems.chrylser.....engineered to be great cars?
my posting on the recall was to inform owners of cars falling into model years 1993-1995 of a potential safety problem. i no longer own a chrysler product, and probably never will, but read their topics and the comments posted with interest.the recall notice was posted for information, and i hope owners of the cars involved will take it as such.no car is perfect, but unfortunately, some cars are more perfect then others.
best of luck with whatever you're driving now.
Another point, someone was crying that the LHS was not buit in America but in Canada. Well guess what, Canada is in America, North America as is Mexico and the United States. The build quality of my LHS is excellent and I for one think they are doing a damn fine job.
I'd consider investing the money instead. That way it's there if you need it and if you don't you should have more than your original investment to do with what you please. If you buy the warranty and don't need it, you have nothing.
But, if it helps you to sleep at night....
'21 Dark Blue/Black Audi A7 PHEV (mine); '22 White/Beige BMW X3 (hers); '20 Estoril Blue/Oyster BMW M240xi 'Vert (Ours, read: hers in 'vert weather; mine during Nor'easters...)
What is the full description of the Michelin tire that Chrysler furnishs with the new vehicle?
I think the LHS is great, but I believe it would be better with Michelins. Has anyone had the Chrysler dealer or A Tire dealer exchange the GoodYears for Michelins?
I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Has anyone out there recently ordered an LHS? I know the deals of $1000 off or 0.9% financing make it time to buy for me, but I cant find what I want. If ordered, how long does it take, and if you got a 2000, do they have the tire and window bugs worked out?
Whats up with this topic?? Is there really that much lack of interest in this great car? I have to go to 300 M page to get current updates.
Is the LHS going to v-8 rear drive next year?
Love the car, but it seems there are very few of us out there.....
I'm still ready to buy this month
In looking at the car ads in today's paper, I noticed that all the Chrysler ads said that the .9% financing ends tomorrow 4/3! I thought that I read somewhere else that it went longer than this, but I don't remember where I read it.
This topic and the Concorde topics have never been as active as the 300M one for some reason. Are we 300M owners really more passionate about our cars than the other LH owners?? LOL....... We certainly have a lot to say anyway- pro and con.

I'll start my serious shopping next week.

Hows the MPG on your car on the highway? I know its barely broken in, but I was just wondering.
Any problems with tire vibration? Good luck with your new car. I'm real close to buying. As soon as I get my taxes done, I should be ready. Its been tough to find the car I want - inventories are limited here in Orlando. Lots of 1999's on the lots, but I dont want one of those. I'll probably order one so I get everything I want.
My LHS delivers 27 MPG on the highway when driven at 70 to 75 MPH. The GoodYear tires that came on the car are not my choice but they seem to be OK so far. If you can find or order an LHS with Michelins I believe you would have a better riding car.
I bought my LHS in Vero Beach and had no problem selecting the exact vehicle that I wanted at a fair price.
WOW! I think that's fantastic! I don't get anywhere near that kind of mileage at those speeds with my 99 300M. I never did. Oh well, only 15 months left on this lease and then it's going back to its maker!! LOL....

Also, can anyone tell me a "rough estimate" of what a "good deal" on an LHS is?
And lastly, to the person that was wondering about the cash back or .07%(???) (I can't remeber) financing, I believe it was supposed to to end the beginning of April; however, if you are a recent graduate, they will give you $400 back!!!
:-)
I am new here, so I hope I did everything right!

Welcome to Edmunds! You did fine! If you go back to your second post and click on the BLUE message number, you can eliminate the second post by clicking on SCRIBBLE. After a while, you'll get the hang of this.
Lots of luck with your new car. Drive it in good health.

The LHS does not have this as far as I can tell. Has anyone experienced serious rear-end sag problems with a heavy load?
I love the looks and the price of the LHS!
Bought it through a Sam's club dealer in Brighton, Colorado by email, phone and fax. Never went to the dealership.
Dealer invoice less the $1,000 rebate.
Best I could do thru all the online services was $300 over invoice.
In one of the above posting (365?), it mentioned about feeling the road on the gas pedal. I have the same complaint. I need to find some time to go back to the dealer and try another vehicle, see if it does the same thing.
