PS. On that Carfax stuff. They just blew the sale on my driver in FL for a $255 kicker in Dania. The customer convinced himself my 02 Lexus LS 430 with 8,300 miles was totaled ... l..o..l... --- Carfax, thank you very much..!

    Hello,

My father is looking to get rid of his 92 Olds Delta 88 with 130K miles, white, with purple top, no dents, am/fm/cassete, no alarm. Not sure what other options are. The reason is that there is very strange noise coming from transmission. He'd rather sell or trade it in while it runs, than get stuck with it if it dies. He lives in NYC.

The other car that I'd like to get your opinion on is 94 Corolla DX sedan, auto, beige ext, power sunroof, alarm, a/c, am/fm/cass, relatively clean inside, 1 owner. Bad news: 152K miles, needs new rear tires, new windshield, has visible exterior damage from 2 minor accidents (localized though if it matters), has it's share of dents and chips. Otherwise runs great. The car is in Northern NJ.

    Thank you
    Dmitry

I'm thinking of buying a new car, and trying to figure out whether to trade in or sell my 94 Ford Escort Wagon. It's in Good condition (using kbb description of interior/exterior), AC, CD player, manual 5-speed...however it has a salvage title. It was stolen and not recovered before the insurance claim, so it wasn't a totaled car. A minor dent in the bumper, and a couple scratches was all it ended up with. Does it matter what caused the title to be considered 'Salvage'? Or is everything the same in the eyes of the dealer? I am shopping in Burlington, VT

..... Sorry Cindy, Ok what is this boat again ..?

Aahh yes, it's 00 Bonni with no miles ... it has all the nice toys and a small scratch.(small .. how small ..?)

Well, I'm not sure of the area or color of this beauty.. but if it's nice, super clean and it's a baby doll on the inside and still looks new -- Then, you should be in and around that mid $12's figure. If it's not, start deducting ...

Thanks for stoppin' by Cindy ..

Five speed, black, gray cloth, only "adds" are factory SE alloys and fog lights. 12,500 miles, no damage, no french fries, solid 9.5/10.

Used car manager says $14,500 on a push. This car belongs to a real good friend of mine, so I'm going to suggest he retail it. Any ideas?

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 102K miles on it. Exterior is in great shape (no dings, scratches or dents) but interior is not. Door panels peeled down from the heat melting the glue which held them in, was given a quote of $120 per door to have them fixed, which I will not spend. Question is this - since I have high miles but good curb appeal, can I get a good trade in value? How important is the interior, especially if it would cost the dealer only a couple hundred to fix? Also, if I'm buying a Mercedes, do I get points for trading in a Jeep since DaimlerChrysler owns them both?

.... How was your day ..?

So, we have a base Max GXE with a handshaker ..huh.?

Well the color is great for the area ( you live up north right?) .. and the miles are intact.

I do have to agree on this one ... $14,500 yep, that's it. Maybe a Hun here or there .. but, the stick, and the base is no help here.

Send your buddy down to Retail Rd. Ya know the drill, Diamondville, nice classy Ad .. for $16,900 and let some nice person kick him senseless for $16,2/$16,500.

    I hope this helps ...

    ...... ******* White -- with a PURPLE top ....?????

    Really ....?

Ok, to each his own -- All righty then.

Well you have a tap tap going for Ya.. and a purple top, plus 130 klick klicks ... what, maybe $3/$500. I would have to "eyeball" this gem. Nothing personal.

On the other side of the driveway .. we have a 94 Protege' with some klicks going for it, and some meteorite damage -- Do you see a Vauxenslobbin in there anywhere ..?

I'm guessing another Nick. I would recommend that you guys move up to some Peterbuilts next... l..o..l..

    Good luck ....

2 tone paint .. new sneakers and stoppers ..

Nice and clean .. lookin' towards the 00's and needing -0- .. mid to high $14's. The miles are the "ouch" here, and the 3rd door is your winner.

I am trying to get an estimate on the value of a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Also, I have a knick in the windshield would you recommend getting it fixed if it is relatively cheap? How about any not so obvious mechanical defects? The car looks really good. Here are the stats:
    80000 miles
    Gold Paint (still glossy)
    Automatic
    4WD
    6 Cylinders
    Roof Rack
    Towing Package
    Premium sound
    CD Player
    Tinted windows
    Skid Plates
    ABS
    Fog Lights
    Power Antenna
    Air Conditioning
    Power Steering
    Power Door Locks
    Tilt Wheel
    Cruise Control

    Thanks a lot.

Looking for current trade value on '99 V8 AWD Mercury Mountaineer with 70K miles, premium edition orig sticker $35K. Integrated phone and XM satellite added. Vehicle is honestly in excellent material condition. I had planned to replace the vehicle last year but with the "Explorer" fallout, trade-in values were quoted 3-5K below kbb wholesale. How is the market looking today? I must replace the vehicle soon due to business expense rules. What are your recommendations? This is the first time in 10 years (I trade-in vehicles every 2-3 years) that I have had trouble receiving a reasonable trade value on an Explorer product.

    Thanks, Susan.

....... The Millenia's are pretty nice vehicles ... the S makes the vehicle.

This one has no miles .. and it's the right color (for the area) ..

A super clean, low mileage, nice one is doing around $15. So figure, by the time the service is done, a this and that and the pack .. it will hit the table about $15,500, start him up at $16,500 and see what happens. $17 kills it ..

Good luck ..and let us know.

This is from a salvage pool sale. 23000 miles, it has original airbags and rides and drives like new...no mechanical, driveline or suspension damage. Fenders not damaged. It's a 6spd, black with leather and T-tops. This car needs a front bumper cover and hood.

    How much, guys???? Thanks!

...... You haven't given up the miles on that little Escort --- But, no matter what they are .. you have a Salvage title. I mean like - No help there.

Whatever the value of the vehicle, whether it's $15,000 .. or $1,500, just cut it in half, at least.

I just looked at a real nice 99 Dodge Intrepid ES, 17k, leather, Infinity, slider, wheels, etc. .. at first, it looked nice, one walk around and I knew it had been around and replacement parts were everywhere. All in all, it was a #1 great job from front to back ..But it did have a salvage title... a vehicle that normally would be worth $10 is now worth $5 -- too me, it's not worth anything.

Perhaps try to sell this one on your own .. just mention the facts to the potential buyer.

    Good luck ...

..... The miles aren't bad for the year .. black on black in the Bay area .. no problem.

If the vehicle shows and drives like a 99 inside AND out, and all the service has been done correctly along with some new sneakers -- then this should be in that $8ish zipcode.

    I hope this helps ...

...... Your Mountaineer sounds nice .. AWD and all the nice play toys .. but, those miles will hold you back.

These vehicles have been getting more and more popular -- on a trade, start thinkin maybe the high $11's -- or perhaps, try the retail route at $14,900 and let someone "steal" it for the high $13's .. low $14's.

Could I get an opinion of the value for a dealer trade-in?

I have a 2000 Corolla LE, Venetian Red, moonroof, Toyota security system, CD player, Sports package, color-keyed mud guards, floor mats with 43000 miles on it. It's extrememly well kept, never had problems and the only thing wrong with it is that I got rear-ended at a stop light when everyone was going less than 5 miles an hour and my rear bumper has a few scratches on it. I've taken it to Toyota dealership for maintenance during all suggested intervals. I'm in the North Carolina. Please advise. Thanks.

91,000 miles; no mechanical problems (yet), tape deck, a/c, c/c, no power windows (too early in the production run for them), interior in good condition (backseats rarely used); several dings around the car, a chunk of paint taken off the rear bumper; the front passenger door & front corner panel were replaced about 2 years ago as the result of a thouroughly typical New Mexico hit-and-run.

I expect it's not worth much. (I don't fully trust the numbers I'm getting on Kelley, etc.)What are my options for getting rid of the car? If I buy a car with a factory discount like Ford's X-Plan, would a dealer even take it?

    Thanks.

To purchase from Austin, Texas dealer. 41K, 4-cyl. auto, power sunroof, CD, AC, alloys, dark green w/tan cloth interior. Carfax says one owner. Sticker is $15488. What do you think of the 4-cyl 2-doors, and what would be a fair price here?

Also, I’ll be buying a warranty from the dealer. Any recommendations or bargaining tips would be great - I know they make $$$ on the warranties, how much wiggle room here?

Thanks again, still looking at Maximas too...

Sorry for this sudden urgency, but I just found out about this website today. I really need some info about how much you think my car is worth for a trade in. I'm viewing a 2002 Chevy Camaro SS 35th Anniversary edition tomorrow which price was quoted to me for $27,960. I think that I'm getting a very good deal on this car. I have a 2000 Chevy Camaro Z28 coupe with 44,000 miles. The color is red with a black roof. It is fully loaded except for leather interior. I've kept it in excellent condition. Dealer is giving me $15,500 for the trade in. Is this good or bad? And what do you think I should get for it? Thanks !! Killeen, TX

    Lemme get this...

$15,500 for an 00 Z28 with 44K on it against $27,960 for an 02 SS?

    BUY IT!

Cheap deal on the Camaro I think, and I think you are driving a $14,500ish car myself... MAYBE $14,800-15K on a total push.

They seem desperate, take the deal!

    00 LS
    16K miles
    3.9 V8 Auto w/ whatever Lncoln calls it's manumatic
    Dark Gray/Black Leather
    17" Tires
    Hole in Roof
Body looks good with no dings or scratches that I could see.
    Dealer asking $25,900.

Any thing else you'd like to know, please advise and thanks.

Hmm.. If this car is super super nice, they have low $13s in it. I'd start em at $14K.. But $15K should get the deal done.

If they're Jam-Up as Terry says, and super clean.. you know, no paintwork, no cig burns on the seats, ad nauseum.

Then these suckers are well into the $23s at the sales. $25,900 is what I'd say you should shoot to get for it.. Tough to say what they have in it, but I'd certainly offer them less of course, but if you like the car and they are "there" then its not a bad deal a'tall...but I think closer to $25K would make it a super deal.

As much as I love my 9-5 it doesn't manage the Home Depot run very well. So I've been looking at trucks, new and used. Here's a couple I've found and I've got a couple questions:

#1 '00 Dodge Dakota SLT club cab 2WD
30K miles, V6, auto, A/C, full power, aftermarket sunroof, aftermarket CD changer, decent tires, few scratches and dings but overall pretty nice. Blue w/ grey cloth. Dealer wants $17995.

#2 '01 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT std cab short bed 2WD, 5.2L V8, auto, full power, 11K miles, A/C, CD player, good tires, silver on grey cloth, spray on bedliner. Dealer wants $18995.

    Questions:

    a) Are you seeing any 2002 Ram 1500's running thru the lanes? I'm looking for a short bed, std cab 2WD truck. Right now Dodge has a $1500 rebate on them. A local dealer is selling a lot ho '02 Ram ST (base model) with the 4.7, auto, trailer tow, cloth seats and carpeting, for $16,300. That's about $600 below invoice. So I'd like an idea if the new Ram is holding its value somewhat.

    b) If I could pick one truck it would be a Dodge Dakota R/T club cab. With the 5.9L HO V8 and all the goodies. I went to four Dodge stores and didn't find a one new or used. A local dealer has a '00 R/T used and is asking $18995. I imagine they aren't too common in the lanes but could you give me ballpark for a '00 or '01 club cab R/T?

    Thanks as always!!

....... These little Corolla's do well all the time -- your not very clear on the rear ender.

Sooo, let's just say it was a re-paint on the fascia. (if not start deducting) ... It's the right color, slider, Yota security, auto -- all these nice little Toyo toys.

The negative here is the miles .. you should be in and around $8ish.

...... It's a 97, and it has no miles for the year .. big plus.

Right color, it's a LT with a 4x4 under it .. major plus. It has all the "gotta have" toys and You make it sound Xtra nice and Xtra clean, - if it is -- then you are defiantly in that $14 zipcode on a trade, especially in the area you live .. l.o.l...

Good luck .. let us know.
