And, i have a GEN 3 (SH) Forester. Those ARE pretty cars. Best-looking design Subaru has ever produced, bar none.
Funny enough, every generation of Outback has been kinder on the eyes than Gen 4 (2010-2014), with Gen 2 (2000-04) being arguable. But, for $6K, who cares. It's all about the function at that point.

That is a crazy amount of variation, even for a ten year old car. These are common, I see them everywhere, and I'd think they'd be a commodity.
I wonder if it's part of a correction in used car prices, which I believe is overdue.
At any rate, 6k for this car is a good price, if it's as nice as promised.
There is a $4k spread on these. More than 100% variation. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.
————————————————- I hate to admit my ignorance but what are the numbers 4.1, 4.2, 3.5 etc. that are shown in the listing? If these are condition ratings on a scale of 1 to 5, the guy in North Carolina with a 2.1 rating, which is the lowest rated car, wanting $6.6 K has to be a dreamer when the first car listed has a 4.1 rating and that guy only wants $5.6K for his car.
If by chance I’m right about these numbers being condition ratings, the old car adage of, “if you don’t ask, you don’t get” is in play here.

Reminds me of Terry... there's your asking price... your 'liking' price... and then your ' getting' price. But asking doesn't enter into these numbers.
Them's completed auction prices -- it done been paid. Then the auction fee gets paid -- used to be in the $250 range, 15 years ago. Then maybe an in$pection get$ done and paid for. Then the tran$port. So depending on this and that, the dealers who buy these will have another $500 and more in them than the numbers shown here. So $6 for our white one, if it's as nice as claimed, is quite the deal.
The Subaru/Hyundai dealership where these get traded is, how to say, run efficiently. If they can steal a trade, they do it. This is loathsome, but it helps on my end...
As far as the numbers, they kinda have to be condition/5.. if you scroll back some years, you'd see average/below/clean or some such categories.

Just as an aside, my company found that buying Subies in NJ where they are not as popular and then transferring them to VT where they are insanely popular was good for the bottom line.

It runs hot and cold, sometimes he's too expensive, but good deals happen, and thank goodness it's all shoe leather...he rarely posts on FB marketplace, and never anywhere else.
When I see a car on FB that looks like a good deal, it's usually gone in hours. The cheap end of the market has been rough for years now.
One of my kids went on a trip with my wife and left their 2013 Escape here. I've been cleaning it up and it's looking pretty good. It's pretty much had dealer service every 5K since new. Some ad's popped up on my computer and I was surprised by the asking prices. It's a totally loaded Titanium model and Carmax wants 13.5K to 14.5K with similar mileage.

Is their a strict rulebook on how the condition ratings are assessed? Are paint blemishes heavily weighed, or are they looking more at cigarette burn marks in the interior.

I just popped in and noticed the block letters above.
Sorry about my 'expensive to be poor' shouting -- it was meant to be a hashtag. I do stand by the message.
A 12-year-old Ford Escape for $14? The only way anyone would do that sober is if it's packaged as a "monthly payment of $xxx" but then we're making payments until the Escape is old enough to drink.
A new Civic hatch, which has the same functionality, can still be had for $30 OTD. I'll take the first 13 years to pay off the first half of that amount, and then I'll be in the same situation

Two years ago my son’s 2010 Fusion was going for $14-16k with low mileage. General retail ask today with similar mileage is still about what we paid in 2020. I guess Carmax hasn’t gotten the message that the pandemic is over.

It’s clean. No dents or dings and I’m meticulous about the paint and interior. No errors or mechanical issues thankfully. Exterior is onyx black and interior is the AT4 two-tone black leather with brown accents. Does have aftermarket wheels.
I assumed that, but then GMC's 2022 AT4 website appears to give specs for Yukons in general (which includes 2WD and diesel models), so they got me properly confused.

Have you tried getting any online bids from the usual suspects?
Thank you - I usually come here first then hit up the websites. Always appreciate the help here.
Tough part this time is I think I need to trade at the same dealer to get the sales tax offset but I’ll still use the numbers and see what I can work out.

May I ask: I'll soon negotiate a lease on a new 2025 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid in Massachusetts. This will be a 3 year/30,000 mile lease from Honda Financial Services. I will offer my Honda dealer as trade-in my 2021 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid with just over 21,000 miles. The car has some wheel rash, but aside from that it's in excellent condition. Never been in an accident, nothing aftermarket added. What do think my Honda dealer might offer as trade-in value? Thanks for your advice.

Had a long conversation with my best friend in CA tonight, and need to get some pricing ideas for a couple of used cars.
Back story - his aunt and uncle have moved to our hometown from greater LA, and are in the process of buying a new car (2025 Lexus NX350h, specifically). They intend to sell both of their existing cars - one is a 2012 RAV4, which my friend is planning to buy from them.
He, in turn, will be selling his 2004 Infiniti G35.
I have some details for the Toyota and the Infiniti:
RAV4 - we think it's a Limited V6, and it has about 75,000 miles on it. Green on the outside, and likely some shade of tan (leather) on the inside. His aunt has been pretty meticulous with the maintenance, so I don't expect it has any significant mechanical issues. One small scrape by a front fog light. KBB hit it at around $10K private party.
G35 - Base RWD; blue on the outside, and either tan or grey leather on the inside. It, too, has about 75,000 miles on it (!) - my friend has been driving his folks' 2008 RAV4 predominantly the last few years. Pretty good shape mechanically (he said it needs an oil change), but the paint has started to fade/wear from living outside all these years. KBB says around $5500 private party.
What say you? I thought he could advertise the G35 at $6495 or $6995 and take any offer that begins with a 6. $10K seems about right for a RAV4 of that vintage.
Is the RAV fwd? Because that would make sense. Although $10k is closer to retail. $9k-$9500 PP is more accurate. If it is AWD, kbb is quite low. That would be at least $13k private party.
How many doors and which transmission on the G?
