Just purchased a 2005 RX330 FWD and notice it running 3000 rpm in D4. Not sure it's shifting into Overdrive.

I'm guessing you already figured this out, but are you actually putting the gear shift in the "4" position or the "D" position? (the gear shift moves between the two in that position). If you are selecting the "4" position, then you are just putting your vehicle into 4th gear which is where it will stay until you shift somewhere else. This is similar to putting the shifter in the "3", "2" and "L" (i.e."1") positions. Most people will rarely use an individual gear as they are meant for certain driving situations/conditions. All you have to do is choose the "D" position for all your driving which is your "automatic 5-speed" position and will shift gears accordingly including overdrive (i.e., 5th gear).
