Engine dies, no code set I-5 3.7l - 2011 Colorado

2011 Colorado I-5, 104,000 miles. Stopped for gas, engine cranked, would kick out the starter, but run very rough for a couple seconds, then die. Lifted the hood, allowed the engine compartment to cool for 3-4 minutes, engine started and ran normally. Same thing happened an hour later, when stopped with the engine running for 5 minutes. Truck drove 100 yards, died again. Started again after lifting hood for a few minutes. Took truck to my ASE cert mechanic, he had problem, has no idea what is causing it. Air temperature was 84 degrees when problem occurred, and would not repeat in 70 degree weather, so it is definitely heat related. Has any one seen this and found the problem?
