Getting about 30 mpg in combined driving is a good number for just about any car. It's really great in a car that's as fun to drive as the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, though.

    Not bad at all given the performance numbers. I average 26 MPG with my 2000 Miata.

    To put this in perspective, I live in LA, next to where Edmunds is. Venice vs Santa Monica. My LA commuting in my 2014 Miata Club avgs 22mpg. The new Miata gets about 36% better fuel economy in LA city driving!
