My wife don't like how you have to lock the truck in to 4 wheel drive yourself so thats why we look for awd on our second vehicles and next time we buy one it won't be a chevy awd it might be a subaru again or maybe a honda or toyota.
Any ideas whether GM has made improvements in the Nox'07 regarding AWD?
Temper our results and go test drive one the first chance the you can when the roads are not at their best in YOUR area. Only you (and your family) can decide how it handles compared to your experiences and conditions. You will make the final decision. I just posted to let people learn from my experience and foolishness. It was absolutely foolish of me not to have test driven the vehicle during the winter months when i live in an area that gets considerable winter weather.
I don't know if Chevy made the 2007 Equinox AWD any better but don't trust what the dealer tells you. My wife asked the general manager at our dealership how the Equinox went in the snow and he said great. We knew not to believe him but boy was he lying. The best thing to do would be to drive it in the snow if possible or find someone who has one and ask them. If you really want an Equinox it is a nice vehicle but just don't expect Subaru winter performance with it just expect it not to go well in the snow.
Best of luck to you.
American companies have been out sourcing consumer goods for ages.
Whats wrong with GM saving some money by out sourcing the assembly of their V6?
The 3.4L engine in the Equinox is a proven GM design which is assembled overseas.
My family have easily put 200,000 miles on these engines.
It is a reliable engine design, thats easy to assemble, and has a timing chain which lasts the life of the engine.
I also save $400+ every 60,000 miles, since I don't have replace a timingbelt/waterpump, like you have to, on those so-called reliable "Hi tech" foreign engines.
The Nox transmission is "made in Japan".
Oh, Oh, Oh, then it has to be a Great transmission!
Just to say that the 3.4L engine is very dependable.
Near the bottom. However this is a good summary of the GM V6 engines
When I picked up the car, I noticed the window was still in the position that they originaly said was not right. When I took the Equinox through the carwash again...you guessed it, the sunroof leaked.
I called back to the service dept. and they informed me that all of the Equinox windows sit that way. They also said that the Chevrolet Equinox equiped with a sunroof should not be taken through a touchless type car wash. They claim that the water pressure is too high.
So, whatever happened to the original diagnosis. Sounds to me like they can't fix it and that I should just avoid the wet spots.
Feel free to comment.
Won't start
Rotors resurfaced (now needed again)
Violent shaking in column (rotors)
backfiring
jammed CD
paint coming off radio/dash
told to not open the sunroof if it rained unless I drive 3 miles first!
I don't want the car anymore, submitted my story to a lawyer. I don't mind getting a newer nox, just not a 2005.
We bought this as a family cruiser and as a universal work horse. Still have the original brakes which stops smooth.
I also have two boys 6 & 12yrs, that ride in it all the time with my wife. She loves the Equinox.
We had no problems, get advertised fuel economy, and still drives nice.
I was at the Chevy dealership the other day, talkin to the sevice manager. He pointed to that particular Equinox and told me that customer had his 2005 Equinox in for a 100,000 mile checkup!
Sure enough, the worksheet specified the mileage and routine service.
What could have made that alarm go off by itself?
By the way, it's the factory installed alarm.
or
A double barrel 12 gauge rifle.
Stay with the locking gas cap.

Shall we get back to the Equinox?
General Motors Canada will assemble a new sport utility vehicle at its Ingersoll plant.
By NORMAN DE BONO, SUN MEDIA
General Motors Canada is scrapping the sport utility vehicles it makes at Cami Automotive to assemble a new GMC SUV -- and another new vehicle will be added to the plant, automotive industry officials say.
GM Canada announced last month the Ingersoll plant will get new investment and a new product in 2008, but was short on details. A picture is emerging of one new SUV and another new vehicle, which may be a hybrid.
"It's going to be a whole new generation vehicle, a whole new GMC SUV," replacing the Torrent and Equinox, said Bruce Kavelman, plant manager for Rieter Automotive in London, which supplies the Cami plant with carpeting and insulation for vehicle floors.
"They are also talking about a whole new vehicle, but that has not yet been identified. It may be a small car, but there has been no confirmation yet."
GM Canada spokesperson Stew Low said there will be a new vehicle for Cami, but it's not a car.
"It is a new program. I will not say what segment it is in, but it is not a car."
low declined comment on speculation it may be a hybrid.
"We are not giving any details as to what the future product will be at this point. I will say any news is several months away," he said.
As for its hybrid lineup, GM is moving aggressively into the hybrid market in 2008. It has the Saturn Vue sport utility vehicle, Aura car, Tahoe and Yukon sport utility vehicles, Cadillac Escalade, Malibu and trucks Silverado and Sierra.
Tim Carrie, president of the London and District Labour Council, has also heard Cami is getting a small, hybrid car.
"I just hope whatever it is, it is successful, that it gets the business. I think there is definitely a good future at Cami," Carrie said.
Mike Van Boekel, chairperson of CAW Local 88 representing Cami workers, hasn't heard details of what the new product is.
"They are keeping it very tight-lipped here," he said.
Whatever the product is, it is believed no new jobs will be added.
"I just want to keep what we have now," Van Boekel said.
Automotive consultant Dennis DesRosiers isn't surprised GM is being secretive, saying competition is fierce and it wouldn't take a competitor long to respond if the details are known.
"When they talk product, they never want to let the details out. It is the closest-guarded secret. They have to keep competitors guessing," he said.
Cami now makes the Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Suzuki XL7 sport utility vehicles. Cami employs about 2,700 workers, 2,100 of whom are CAW members. Last year, it made about 170,000 vehicles.
On another note this is the first car that I have owned with GM's oil monitor. I am old-school and believe in 3,000 oil changes but I have been trusting the oil monitor. It comes on about every 4,500 miles. I did change out the oil at 500 miles with Mobile One synthetic and have been running that since.
For a Frenchman, you speak excellent English. I know a few French words, but my favorite 2 words are Barton & Guestier. I fell in love with their Cabernet many years ago and still think it is one of the best wines ever produced.

If you like good wines, here are a few good ones...
Barbera, Sangiovese, Zinfadel, Merlot, Cabernet Savignon, Pinot Noir.
I know this is not a wine forum, but to make it more automotive I'll add "Remember, don't drink and drive".
Up here we get lots of snow in winter. This could be a factor ?
I did my own oil change and out of the 4 quarts that the car takes, I didn't recoup
not even 2 quarts.
If the dealer had informed you at the time of purchase, olf this consumption, would you buy this car?
HA, i couldnt believe it. I told him it wasnt a lexus, and then he started asking more about the EQ.
Anyone else have this happen?
