It ejects the card in the same manner as my older Canon digital camera ejected it's CF card.
It's not a motorized ejection, like a cd.
As you push the button, a little lever pushes the card toward you.
It doesn't really matter how hard you push the button as much as how far in you push it.
The further in the button is pushed, the farther out the card will come.
Then, all you need to do is pinch and pull.
My biggest issue was getting the slot's cover off.
I have since learned the trick behind that as well, and can pull it off in a flash now(no pun intended)... now tools required.
Just looked on my CC statement and saw there is a $77 charge and says something like XM annual fee. So pretty happy with how it went down and am loving having XM for the first time.
But I will say as my own opinion, the G36 Bose is living up to its name... "No Highs, No Lows, Just Bose" not the best sound system I have had but far from the worst. :P
Check out post #133 (You can just enter it above in the "Go To Msg #" field)
This talks about how to successfully shuffle through all songs in the MusicBox.
It just might work on the CF Card as well. :confuse:
This method only works with Music Box. Thanks for the attempt.
With some experimentation, I have figured a way to do this should others ever feel the need.
One method is via the MusicMatch Jukebox player program (Windows platform). With this application you can create a 'playlist' and randomize the order. Then you can send the songs (in the randomized order) to a Portable Device such as a removable Compact Flash card. The songs will appear in this randomized order in your G35.
Note that this technique is desirable when you have a directory full of single songs that you like. For example, I have a playlist of favorites songs. I just don't wish to hear them in the same order order each time. So anytime I feel like a change, I can randomize the list using this method.
One important thing I encountered was that the 2GB Compact Flash cards I bought were defaulted to the FAT file format. When I initially tried copying songs to the CF, whether using iTunes or Musicmatch, it would only copy about 116 songs out of the 265 I was trying to copy. This occurred with both programs. I overcame this by formatting the CF as FAT32 first, then doing the copy. I have not had a problem since in copying the full 265 songs I wanted.
I haven't found a way in iTunes to do the randomizing that I can do with Musicmatch. There may be a way but I am just not familiar enough with it
I have mine set to record new CDs automatically.
You are correct about the manual.
It specifically states that when you hit record, it records the track currently being played and not the CD.
I'd have to test this to see if I have the same results.
What I normally do is record the entire CD.
If there is one song that just HAS to go, I'll go into the settings, edit a CD and delete the one or two tracks that drive me nuts.
I don't think you're doing anything wrong... or at least anything against what the manual says to do.
When I get around to toting a new CD out to the car, I'll test this and let you know.
Also, I saw someone posting on the hard drive issue, I'd like to know the location of it so i can pull it out and try another one in its place with more room.
Anyhow, long story short.... any info on this really appreciated.
thanks.
It can be removed, but it's no job for the faint of heart.
I've seen step-by-step photos of the process, and it's ugly.
There is also an issue with the exact format of the drive, so it has to be done right.
There are write-ups on this, but not here.
And even with the write-ups, I still have not spoken to anyone who has confirmed a successful swap-out.
As for the faint of heart - I'm sure I'll be ok. I've had some experience with my Camaro.
Do you know where the XM Receiver sits?
ILYA
I've googled for this info, but haven't found a thing. Mind posting links to the location of these photos and write ups?
Thanks

Thanks in advance, folks.
I need about $8,000 in order to trade my 07 G into an 08, so I can keep up with this onslaught of 08 specific questions. :P
Personally, I think it's a good investment on your parts.
I figure, $25 each, and I'm good to go!
As for the iPod question, just press the 'SCAN/RPT' button that is with the normal audio controls. You will see on the screen that it goes through the normal shuffle progressions, and eventually it was say all tracks / all albums or something like that. It is kind-of unusual that they did not put the "Shuffle Songs" option on the main iPod menu. But hey, it works
kc
I'll throw the first $3,000 into the hat.
Just need you schleps to cover the rest.
It's for a good cause, really!
I actually brought this up to the wife the other day... just throwing it out there.
I mentioned that the 08 offered a sport and that I sure would love the sport seats in my car.
She's the house CFO and is not very quick to allow $ to be thrown away.
She said, "See what they can do for you"!!!! :surprise:
I'm looking into it on my next visit. (LOL)
She said it. It's not my fault if I pull in with a brand new car after leaving for just an oil change.
She's a typical "who cares about cars" kinda girl anyway.
As long as the 08 was the same color, she'd never even notice the change!
Slightly off-topic, I wish we weren't on water restrictions here - can't even wash the car!! Of course, not washing the car is better than not having drinking water, don't get me wrong - but the dirt is driving me crazy!
kc
I am all for water restriction and conservation, but it really bugs me that businesses are exempt and car washes still run, landscapers still water, etc. Two weeks ago a saw a hotel cleaning out their pool and then re-filling it!!
Oh well, hopefully we will get some much needed rain this winter and I will be able to wash by springtime LOL
kc
Ever in MA with a dirty G, you're more than welcome to swing in for a wash and quick coat of Zaino!
I am VERY new to this and never wrote in to a forum before but I was told this is what I should do. I just bought my brand new G35X 3 weeks ago and absolutely hate the sound from the speakers... but love the car. To me, it sounds like mud. Shockingly, the tech guy at the dealer said to me 'If there are no highs, and there are no lows, it must be a Bose' and he said this saying has been around for years.
Has anyone upgraded their Bose system? What are my options? Bose said it is not possible and there is nothing I can buy to upgrade it. To me it sounds like mud at all volume levels but I know I have a unique ear for sound. Any upgrade advice will be appreciated. I live in Connecticut in case someone knows a sound/audio or Infiniti specialist in CT.
Thank you all very much.

That Bose saying has been around for a long time. And for good reasons. Their "performance" in the home setting has been well documented elsewhere. Just do a search.
I have Bose in my G35 also. Unfortunately. There is another saying in the stereophile community - "Bose blows".
kc
Bose does absolutely nothing to impress me either.
But... with that being said, the stereo will get better as it breaks in a bit.
This stereo has actually taken longer than any other set of speakers I have had, but it has gotten MUCH better.
The Bose system in our 06 MDX still sucks to this day.
i have a very similar problem where my display will not come up at all after starting the car. it seems like it happens only when it's dark outside...
as if there was a problem with some kind of light sensor. i already had the display's "insides" replaced at a dealership (the car is under warranty) but didnt help. The dealer seems to be clueless as to what is going on. Did you find out what your problem was?
Aleks
You sure everything is working correctly with your car stereo system?
All I can say is that it is a car stereo. Won't be a good as a finely tuned and quality home system. But as far as car stereos go, mine sounds pretty darn good. Maybe you need to tweak the bass/treble/faders a bit. Try some different source material (e.g. original recorded CDs).
One other thought occurred to me. I have the upgraded 10-speaker system. Therefore I don't know if we are listening to same systems.
I understand exactly what he means by being muddy.... but with proper time for break-in, it's becomes much more clear.
My stereo took months to finally start to settle in.
For a stock system, I'm not happy with it... but I too was a little worried in the beginning.
A little time, I think he'll see it gets better.
I had a '05 G coupe w/ Bose and I think it was a lot better than this Studio on Wheels. :surprise:
Front end loaded
No Bass
Too Midrangy
Has anyone done any after market upgrading?
Replace speakers?
Add an amp?
Add a sub?
Can you do any upgrading (amp) and keep the tuner intact?
I started playing a song and everything looked good. The display showed the song title, how long it played, etc. After switching songs however the song title did not change and the play time stop updating as well.
Going to "text" details would update the display with the correct song title and position (i.e. minutes/seconds) but it was a one time update.
So I'm wondering if the problem is with the 3rd gen nano or the Infiniti iPod interface, or a combo.
Has anyone else experience this problem?
kc
First off, I readily admit that the information is contained elsewhere in this forum if you look. However, I do think that Infiniti's marketing of the feature commits the error of omission; they are not very thorough in explaining the limitations.
This is a very cool option, and I more or less assumed it would function like an MP3 player...upload music and enjoy. However, the execution leaves something to be desired...
The only way to add tracks to the Music Box is to listen to CD's using the in-dash CD changer.
Let me be clear...you cannot:
- Upload music through the compact flash slot (which seems like an easy thing to do, but I'm not a programmer);
- Upload music through any USB port;
- Transfer music from an iPod or other MP3 player;
- Transfer music from CD's in the CD changer;
You must load the CD into the in-dash player and listen completely to any track on the disc that you want to add. If you are partway through a song and arrive at your destination, better sit in your car while the tune finishes because as soon as you turn off the engine, you'd have to start over on that track.
As a plea to Infiniti, please figure out a way to more quickly add music to the Music Box! This is such a great idea but poorly executed.
You absolutely, positively do not have to listen completely to every track.
If you turn on the auto-record it will record the entire CD automatically. From music box, go to Menu, Music box options and then set the Auto Record CD. My experience is it usually completes a standard 70 minute CD by the middle of 3rd track.
You cannot however, change tracks while recording.
You *CAN* change sources while recording so you don't have to listen to it while working.
Everything else I can't argue with. It is a huge pita to transfer stuff to the music box. I hated having to dig my originals out do so too. I ended up burning new CDs from MP3 with CD-TEXT (Media Monkey does this quite well, as does Nero) for some CDs which have deteriorated since I first ripped them to MP3.
I agree though, it is quite bogus that you cannot copy your MP3s to the Music Box either from CF or CD. I have an '08 so it doesn't look like anything changed from the '07.
kc
A CD-R costs maybe $0.03... a whopping 3 cents.
Throw a disc into your PC, and rip a music CD from your MP3 files and then toss it into your car's CD player.
I agree that this is not the easiest approach, but it's not exactly difficult or that time consuming either.
The CD player rips songs to the drive 4 times faster than listening speed and you can listen to other sources, including the MusicBox itself, while recording.
Stop at a destination while recording, who cares... it starts up and corrects anything it needs to the second you restart the car.
And.. you do have a AUX input. Throw an IPOD on that puppy and your MP3 worries are over.
The MusicBox feature is great for those CDs I listen to all the time and want to have on hand, without loading up the changer or those stupid visor CD holders.
I love the option, think it's worth every penny, and would get it again without any hesitation.
Insert CD
Hit Record / or let autorecord start
Change source
Does anyone know if an after market ipod is available for the 2007 G35X? I would like to find a system that would allow me to use the factory stereo to control and read (on screen) my 3rd generation ipod.
Any ideas?
Dave.
If I need to do this on the iPod itself then the iPod does increase in speed and I get there very quickly.
Thanks

Did you find an answer to the CD Error FO problem? The same happened to us tonight when my daughter was loading a CD into the unit on our 2003 G coupe.
Appears that it got stuck or jammed or something. The unit makes clicking sounds and then the "CD Errror FO" message appears.
Any help that you or others can provide would be appreciated.
Any help
Also can someone please post, if they can see videos on the navigation screen from iPod Video. May be that may encourage me to but iPod. I have large MP3 collection and I am really tired on burning cd and then ripping it again in G35 Media box, 8 to 10 songs at a time...
Thanks
I use the Apple A/V Data cable to do so.
The car must be in park with the E-Brake set for video to appear.
Resolution is very good though.
