2008 MDX door armrest

I would like to replace the driver's side armrest on 2008 MDX - the leather piece where your arm rests while holding the silver handle. The parts guy at the dealership told me that you need to take off the door panel and unclip the armrest from the inside. Does anyone know if that's true? Can it be dislodged from the outside?

I have no idea how to do it, but just out of curiosity, why do you want to replace it?

The dealer made it dirty while performing service. They tried to clean it but didn't do a good job. It's not that bad now but I thought I'd replace it if it's easy enough - the part is only $40.

We damaged our driver's side mirror and local body shop replaced. I watched them remove panel and it appeared very easy for them. Probably any body shop would know the tricks. There are some hidden screws by the armrest that need to be removed. No special tools needed. I would stop by a shop and see if they can help you. It is about a 5 minute job to pull the entire panel
