Hello,
I have a 1997 TC. I will be going down the Interstate, and it will start to lose power. When I let up off the accelerator for a few minutes, it will eventually bring the power back up. Normally this means I have to get off the road and wait. It tends to hesitate from a dead stop, but not all the time. It has 117,xxx miles. Any ideas what could be causing this. I have changed the Throttle position sensor, fuel filter, and spark plugs.

Your Mass Air Flow sensor may be defective or needs cleaning or you fuel pump pressure is low.

Agree with Nwraa & would bet it is the Mass Air Sensor. They can be carefully cleaned, but if you're going to keep the unit, replace it.

97 Lincoln Town car is slow to shift when going from 20mph to 35mph, it feels like i have to baby it into gear, the check engine light is on and the code says EGR FLOW INSUFFICIENT AND HEATED 02 SENSOR INDICATES LEAN.

Will replacing the EGR fix the slow shifting, the transmission is ok after it shifts up.

    Thank you.
