I drive only subcompact cars.Since Ford stopped
Importing the Festiva and Aspire due to slow
selling in a cheap gas market. The Fiesta which is a
hot subcompact in Europe is a better performer
than the blah Aspire and Festiva.Gas prices have
gone up .39 cents a gallon in six months so I will
stay a subcompact driver and will be first in line
for one of them !!

Are you referring to the Focus? Well, if not go ahead and ignore my shpiel:

To tell you the truth I've always disliked Ford, even the few imports like the Festiva and the Aspire (both made by Kia) really turned me off. But for once I have to admit they really got on the ball and have made a car I'd buy. Now, while I don't like the Focus sedan or wagon at all, the Focus Hatback is one very nice design and a perfect inexpensive yet sporty package.

Here's what sells me, I mean it's like they read the mind of every sport-hatchback buyer! It only comes in one trim, which is the "ZX3", and it comes standard with a 2.0L 130 hp engine, manual steering, CD player, 15" alloys, tachometer and a leather sterring wheel. The other trims are the LX, SE and ZTS sedans and the SE wagon, which are pretty boring and all come with something like a 107 hp engine except the ZTS sedan, which is the same as the ZX3 hatchback.

The exterior design of the ZX3 hatch is very modern and euro-styled, it looks a lot like the Fords they only sell in Europe. And the equipment is all pretty favorable for entry-level performance-drivers. And the best part is the price, MSRP is less than $12,000! It's hard to believe but I think this is a way better deal than a Honda Civic HB (which no longer comes in the higher trims like it did from 92-95) and even though I'm a big VW fan, the Golf's aren't nearly that inexpensive.

Now, I have to say that this is a NEW model so that means unexpected problems, you may want to give the focus 1-3 years before buying into it just to see if any major drwabacks arise. But for the most part it looks very promising for Ford.

Car & Driver magazine had articles on both the hatchback and sedan versions of the Focus. You can probably read the articles at their web site.

The Focus WILL have a car below it based on Fiesta. This is based on the German car available in USA 1978-1980.As we are getting ready to have another gas crunch watch America get stung again with low gas mileage vehicles like we did in 1974.We import half of our oil today more than in 1974 watch out.Yes I know for a fact that it was not the Focus"Fords answer to a Saturn".As for when gas prices rise you'll know the Fiesta.

Is there a 4 door version of the new Ford Fiesta?
Looks very similar to the VW Golf.

IT'S GOING TO BE BASED ON
    FORD KA WHICH IS DERIVED
    FROM FIESTA PLATFORM. http://www.findit.co.uk/uk/cars/ford/ka.htm

but am a US citizen. The Ka is a Turd! There
are older Fiesta's overhere and they look alot
better then the Ka-crap! I wish Ford would consider the U.K. escort or the older but better
looking Fiesta XR2 to build a car off of.

The Cosworth Escorts and Fiestas were alway hot little cars. Even the Fiesta XR2 and Escort XR3 were better than their american counterparts. I just don't understand it. The Euro Scorts were very aerodynamic and sleek back when the American Scort was a POS box, that was just darn ugly.
