I got tints this past saturday on my pitch black zx3. It looks really good all blacked out. I got solarguard metallized film 5% on the rear and 15% on the fronts. I know it's illegal so no lectures please. Price was $150 if anybody are curious.
Although it may not look it from the outside, the ZX3 is a true five-passenger vehicle. With Carnival going on here in New Orleans, I've been carting around my parents and a couple of friends to parades (we take the Focus because it's so easy to park). Once my passengers are all inside, they all remark on the amount of legroom and how comfortable the back seat is. Of course, being a two-door, the ZX3 is more difficult for my parents to get in and out of than the sedan would be; but my mom commented that the ZX3's back seat is more spacious than the back seat of many sedans she's sat in.
I paid 20705 in the Niagara Peninsula. That included air, remote locks and 100 for new plates. Or 17050 for just the car with options. Add delivery charge and everything to it. Also check around for the dealers administration fee. Here it ranged from 50 to 199. I paid 80 because the dealer that charged 50 couldn't come close the the price. Most dealers first offer was 400 off the price of the car. You can get more off.
Just got the focus welcome box in the mail over the weekend. It's a shoe sized box. In it you'll find the G-shock watch, a picture frame to mount in your car, and a bunch of promotional materials for the T4U kits you can order. I bought my ZX3 in Nov., so everyone else should be getting their welcome boxes soon.
I asked my dealer and they said it was a promotion from september. I was told that they couldn't get a hold of one for me. Did the box have a return address from where it was sent? If so could you please post it here so maybe those of us who are getting screwed by Ford can write and complain. First they can't fix my car and now I don't even get a free watch. I had nothing but trouble with my '85 Tempo; I should have known better than to buy a Ford again.
drebe73, I agree that you deserve compensation for your long wait. Why not tell them how much you love your car and especially the dealer from whom you bought it. You've already told several friends about the great deal you got from them. You'd like to continue to say good things about them but this car repair is getting in the way. What can you give me to make me happy again and ready to refer customers to you? Then propose your list. Can't hurt, might help!
Hang in there man. Sure they will have her all back together in no time. Then you will be cruising around checking out all the roller coasters on the east coast. Even the new ones at Darien Lake near Buffalo. But, I don't think the roller coaster restraints would fit in the ZX3. Just think about summer for a while and she will be ready before you know it.
I called my dealer last monday and spoke to a customer service rep about the watch, she said that she was going to contact someone in Detroit about it and get back to me in a day or two.She never did. So I went eo my dealer armed with info provided on this site from other owners(THANKS!!) and spoke to the sales manager. He told me that a rep from Ford was to be there later today and that he was going to do all he could to make sure I get one-he then gave me a nice Ford baseball cap. Hopefully I will hear something soon.oh-he also said that several other people have asked so maybe they will take us seriously if we stick together!!aj
Have you guys see the announcement on the Town Hall welcome page regarding owners clubs? Groups that are taking a long term approach to owning a particular car (as in ZX3 Part IV!!) are eligible to create their own club once our Clubs conference opens.
To participate as a club, each group must caucus and decide on two reps who will have primary responsibility for monitoring the topic, keeping it focused on its purpose and within the guidelines of the Town Hall.
Interested? If so, this topic is the place to begin the conversation. For more information, ask me questions here or in email to mznorma@ibm.net. Thanks!
I contacted the District Manager. The auto repair representative contacted her and she contacted me. I strongly suggest that you talk to the dealer manager (or owner) by making an appointment and seeing him/her regarding your car. I think it is outrageous that you have not had your car in 2 months. Be professional and come with a list of points you want to make with the manager.
I think you deserve much more than a lojack system. I think the dealer should provide you with a rental car for free, compensation of 1000 dollars and a deadline for your car to be repaired. If the deadline is not met...then you get a new equivalent ZX-3. Those would be my demands. Do not reveal your demands to the manager on the phone...just request to meet him for 15 minutes. You have been without your car for 2 months and taking the bus! Ford is really underserving you/
For me to get the extra 2 years warranty on my car is not all that awesome. I just want my car. But there is no end in sight.
Congrats to all you who bought real cars instead of imaginary ones waiting to be built south of the border. Still no sign of land... I'm all for a club. The yahoo interface is totally awkward (their club sight) and it would be nice to have another option. I nominate projectzx3 to be one of the club chairpersons.
my 3/6 ETA was changed to 3/27 and they claim that it is not built yet so I have no VIN to track. Do I believe that the car will be built and delivered in the next 3 weeks? No way, Jose. I'm getting so tired of the runaround but I've committed so much time to this wait already that I don't want to back out now. SIgh.......
Anyone notice a change in mileage once the car was broken in? There was some talk that it was low, and so was mine. But now at over 3200 miles, it's up to 29.4 MPG in mix of city/highway.
does anyone out there have any information on when Ford is going to bring to market an all wheel drive version, and what engine/body combination it will have. I read in 'road and track' a while back that it is in the works - anyone got any hard information??
Has anybody taken out the domelight? If you have, is that considered a wedge shaped light? I want to change the color to blue but not sure what it's specifications are. Most websites do not show a picture of it.
Autoweek mentioned recently that a small SUV based on the Focus platform has been killed - thank goodness. We don't need more SUVs, thanks anyway. If that was going to be the platform for a 4wd Focus, it doesn't look too good.
scomo, Welcome to the club. Now maybe I'll see a ZX3 on the free section of the thruway more often. Not many on the road in Buffalo area. Thought that a couple of the dealers in Buffalo had 5 speeds, like Al Maroone on Transit. At least that what their web site said. West Herr only had auto's. Got mine in Olean and only checked West Herr when I was up there looking. What color, so if you hear a air horn, it's me. Bet you live near Lancaster? Pat
I just got my car back from the Service center. As I stated in an earlier post, my suspension seemed to make noise and the left side of the car seemed uneven. Well they fixed it. It seems the rear spring got out of alignment. They repositioned them. Also, there was a recall on an injector pressure sensor. They fixed it while in shop. Most likely they may fix all of your injectors when you go in for service. I must say I had a good experience.
I keep hearing rumors regarding a highperformance all wheel drive version to debut in europe then possibly make the jump over here. Of course in my optimism, it'll be offered on the zx3 model. Its my understanding that AWD is somewhat different then traditional 4 wheel drive.
Hatchqueen, assuming a vehicle has four wheels, 4wd and awd are the same thing. What differs is whether a particular vehicle has a transfer case and offers low and high range gearing (like a Jeep, for example), or if the vehicle has multiple differentials (or some other method for splitting the torque between front and rear) but no separate low range gearing. In both cases, all of the wheels are (or can be) driven, hence "awd".
cefurod, Haven't taken it out yet, but I don't get what you are talking about when you say "wedge" shape. Are you talking about the light cover or the bulb? All the bulb spec's and bulb #'s are in the owners manual. Or are you talking about map lights. I haven't seen them yet. Am going to look when I go in for service. Want to see if I can do a swap if the dome/map light is the same as the dome light like somebody said it was. Why blue?
uno, dos, tres..it's a 3 door focus. Anyone else hear those anoying focus commercials on the radio? Coupe = 2 door, hatchback refers to the trunk, so I'd say its a coupe. Whats the difference?
Pat - I ordered the ZTS combo dome lamp/map light from my dealer about a week ago. I assume it's going to fit - and assume that the wiring harness is the same. Guess we'll see for certain once I receive it. Ford's part number is YS4Z-13776-AA (that's what is scribbled on the order form anyway!) Cost is $24.
The Euro literature refers to the Focus as a hatchback. Traditionally, a Coupe was a 2-door, pillarless automobile - no pillar between the front door glass and the back glass. IMHO, our ZX3s are hatchbacks.
F.orget seeing it in less than 3 months. O.rder one and you'll be waiting.... C.an't stop thinking about it U.nbelievable how long it takes to get one. S.till, I would do it again. March 27th isn't my Birthday, but it will feel like one!
The Chicago Tribune had a blurb about the Focus. Ford has raised line speed to 74 cars an hours from 65 to get 35,000 more cars for the year. They're running at maximum capacity with overtime. In it's 1st three months Focus has gone from nothing to being the number 2 small car seller behind the Civic. Focus is at 95% of Civic sales. The article said Ford has 190,000 orders in the U.S. and 75,000 in Canada. Don't know if that means total orders for the model year or what. This is great for Ford and people that want the car but for those of you waiting for parts this isn't good. If Ford's suppliers don't keep up with demand the wait could be really long (as some of you are all to aware). It seems that all spare parts are going to build new cars. Obviously Ford did not expect this kind of success and those with repair problems are the ones to suffer. Ford's priority should be to get you folks back on the road and to keep you happy but they have to keep selling cars to fill the stock holders pockets. This is the short sighted approach most manufacturers take today.
Maybe those needing parts should write a joint letter. 2 months waiting is nuts. I would have created a scene in the showroom long ago. Demand a loaner. See a lawyer. Good luck.
Well, I just got a call from the dealer. My suspension parts are in. Quite surprised how early they came in. They say it'll be done by Friday. Still mad that Ford won't pay for it though. I haven't had time to write them a letter yet.
Fgaydos, glad someone has some good news to report on a Focus-related repair! I was playing with the OwnerConnection website last night, and when I keyed in my VIN, a notice popped up for a recall on my car! The dealer checked, and hasn't heard anything about it... has anyone gotten a notice for recall 00E09? What is it about?
I got the yellow shoebox in the mail today. YEAHHH, inside was a G-Shock G-lide watch (surf edition I think) black/translucent/grey. Did everyone else get the same watch? By the way, I bought my focus in Dec.
I guess most of us will be getting the notice soon.. apparently it is for an Injector Pressure Sensor Replacement. Dealers should be providing us loaner cars for the half - day service.
Is the ZTS combo dome lamp/map light the same size as the regular dome light we have in our zx3? Or would you have to cut a bigger hole? If it's the same size, all you gotta do is plug in the wires and pop it in. easy. I just like the color blue and it's dimmer. I hate when i first close the door and the light stays lit for a while and it lights up everything.
I actually like the idea that the light stays lit for a few seconds. I usually fumble with my keys and unlocking the steering wheel lock. Ditto for when I get ready to leave for the night, relocking the wheel lock and taking the radio push button stick. It would be nice if you could program how long it takes to dim for different tastes.
Blue dome lights? Programable dome lights? Boy, you folks are spoiled ;-) If you don't like it shining after the door is shut, just reach up and switch it off. I think it's nice to be able to have those 20 seconds of light to insert the key, install the radio button panel, and select a CD - it's just enough time to get this stuff done.
There really are folks who take that radio panel off? I just figured that was one of the gimmicks nobody used. Personally I wouldn't know what to do with the panel after removing it.
Yes, believe it or not, junkies will still try to steal your radio these days. I know they can't steal the car but I still put the Club on to visually convince them it's not worth the trouble. The more flashing red lights the better. I also leave the glove box door open and empty. I don't want to give them any excuse. I had three windows broken on my old 232 and hopefully learned a lesson. Sads but true.
Drebe 73 and Alf3, Do you think we should tell the Canadian Journalists, or should we just be graceful and not say anything about being put in the Sports Car Coupe Class. Seems the Focus can be anything one wants it to be. Alf3, keep us posted on the dome light. Pat
PS: Carlady, I'm still using the spellcheck, but it doesn't correct my mistakes; got to look them up, and I'm a lousy speller in the first place.
I'm just saying for me...when i'm walking away from my car, i don't like the dome light keeping the inside of my car lit up. That's not being spoiled, it's just my preference. Can't a guy ask a simple question without negative comments? P.S. I can't reach up and switch off the light after I have left the car.
Hey man, relax :-) I think you should have any kind of dome light you want -- blue, purple, remote control, you name it. Having owned more than my share of cars that didn't have ANY kind of interior light (and sometimes, not even working exterior lights!), I think the dome light thread is kind of silly -- silly, but fun. Make your car what you want it to be.
Somebody on www.fastfoci.com claims to have had leather seats factory installed in their recently acquired ZX3.. Anybody know anything about this? (My ZX3 is scheduled for delivery in 2 wks., and now maybe I can get leather?!?) Aargh!
Well i got ours today. Mostly blue with black accent. It's a pretty cool looking watch! I really didn't expect it at all. Was never mentioned to me by any sales people etc. Not a baby watch ... really pretty neat looking...pleasantly SHOCKED! Razzi kit scheduled for Monday or Tuesday of next week. Will try like hell to get photos of each step but right now my work schedule gives me enough time to eat and sleep and ...yes...work.
Whattttttt! I would love to get leather (at least in the front). But it's too late now,car we'll be here soon. Does anyone know ,can we buy leather front seats from ZTS and install it in ZX3(i guess those even have arm rest for automatic lovers) I mean too keep original seats in for 2-3 years and than buy ZTS ones and swap'em. Can it work?

Can zts front seats fit in zx3?
we got blue w/black trim...same as our zx3. does the color watch that other focus owners have rec'd match your car color by any chance? curious or is it pot-luck?
Since there is no hatch back category which one would you put it in? Luxury two door coupe, I don't think so. It fits in the sports coupe category since those are the buyers it's aimed at.
I haven't got my G-shock watch and I bought my Focii in Dec. Maybe I need to be patient for one more week then I'm going to rush into my dealer to ask for it. BTW, is that watch coming from your dealer or Ford?
fgaydos, I went to www.ford.com and clicked on OwnerConnection from the homepage. You have to register first and select a user ID and password, then in you go. When I clicked on the "recall" link next to the picture of the Focus, I found out about the "00E09" recall. Have fun.
