Mountain Freeway Travel ?

The fam and I just drove to and from Myrtle Beach through the mountains of North Carolina and the Virginias in our '05 Yukon Denali. It did great in the mountains with it's 6 litre V8 given 2 adults, 3 teenagers and all of our gear including my golf clubs.

I was thinking of taking our '09 MDX sport/ent with just the wife and our 4 year old next month instead of the Yukon and was curious if there were any comments about how well that 3.7 litre V6 does at maintaining speed and the sport/comfort settings handle on mountain freeways?

My gut says it will do well, but I'm sure someone has already been there/done that.

Lemme know; thanks.

I've seen them driving out here in the Rockies and they seem to do pretty well so I don't you should have any difficulty in the Carolinas.

I just spent 5 days in the Austrian/Italian Alps with my MDX. I can't think of any mountains in the states that I have been in (Rockies included) that come close to what I just drove through. The MDX performed superbly. With manual shift, it was easy to manage the extreme downhill braking. Uphill was no problem either thanks to loads of power. Very good handling even at 120 mph. Happy motoring.

Thanks so much for the reply; we leave Monday am for our 10 hour trip through the Appalachain Mts to Myrtle Beach SC. I figured the manual shift would do the trick as needed. 90mph should be our max speed, so it should be fun.

    Looking forward to it.
