Cleveland / Akron Area Mechanic Recommendation

I wanted to know if anyone has a recommendation for a mechanic they would recommend that they use for their Impreza in the Cleveland / Akron area.
I have a 2002 Impresa WRX auto (75,000 miles) with a probable transmission problem. Check engine light on and hesitation between second and third gear. We are new to the area and the mechanic at the shop who would be doing the work on the car is uncomfortable working on the car design and suggested taking it to a dealer. This is a question about finding a mechanic. I will post my mechanical question about the transmission where it belongs under that topic.
