I think that's a misperception. because then it'd hard to explain why red is the dominant color in sports cars like Ferraris whose owners are mostly males.
  • andyrusandyrus Member Posts: 17
Try Route 22 Honda in Hillside, NJ 07205.

We are getting our red 2003 EX V6 for $24,750 (includes dimming mirror with compass) + tax + $99 reg/lic + $199 doc fees.
I brought CarsDirect printout with Southern NJ (zip: 08701;$24,624) numbers and they matched the price.

Ask for Mateo - nice, old Italian guy. No pushy tactic, very little BS. Our negotiations took 10-15 min.

    Good luck!

I think red (esp bright red) is a sexy, flashy color, which the makers of Ferraris want for their exotic sports cars. They draw attention to themselves, which in our society tends to lie in the female half of the population more than the male, especially in terms of outside appearance. Women put on makeup more often than men. So I think red is associated more with women than men. And maybe it could be even said that most of the men who drive bright red Ferraris are actually looking to attract attention from the opposite sex. But a guy driving a red Honda Accord...well, he probably has other priorities in his life. Just my $0.02.

i posted on the periodic maintenance yesterday and i'm posting this question here today, hoping someone who reads this has had the experience of replacing the front park and turn signal lights on a 94 accord lx 4 door sedan.
the manual at auto zone states to pull out the screw on the top of the assembly and to push the light assembly forward. did this but the light assembly won't pull forward. if any of you had prior experience with this, would you mind sharing the knowledge. both front park lights and turn signal lights are busted. the headlights work and the turn signal at the front bumpers work.
    thanks and happy motoring.

you are right. the hondas here in america do not have DRL. but in canada, they do. in montreal, everyone has a civic 4 door! either that or the EL (canadian acura version of the civic). in canada, all cars have DRL
  • welst10welst10 Member Posts: 49
    for a great tip!
  • welst10welst10 Member Posts: 49
Are you getting a sedan or coupe? coz I just went to carsdirect.com and their price for coupe is sticker like in north nj. congrads on your new purchase. I guess I'm out of luck for now.
  • diploiddiploid Member Posts: 2,286
DRLs are mandatory in Canada. I found that out in the "Dumbest feature in a new car" thread.

I just bought an 2003 Acura 3.2CL. I was struggling between Accord EX V6 coupe and the CL. The Accord is nice with new powertrain (a little more power and less gas than the CL). But I'll never pay more than $25K for an Accord so that made my decision easy. As I mentioned in my post in CL board, I paid $26500 for the charcoal gray CL plus $500 for a rear spoiler. Even tho the acura is really not much different from the accord, I get the acura name, a few more features (xenon lighs, memory seats, power passenger seat, bose sound, heated mirrors, auto dim rearview mirror, tinted glass, etc), and a little longer warranty. The CL has a smoother ride, tho I suspect it's a little slower than the accord. Funny thing about Honda/Acura is that many Hondas sell at stciker while acuras sells for thousands less than sticker. You'd expect the other way around. well, I guess they're trying to differentiate themselves from Lexus, audi, infiniti, etc.
  • bodydoublebodydouble Member Posts: 801
You're probably right that it'd be a little slower than the Accord V6 Coupe, but you've got the sportshift for added amusement.
  • andyrusandyrus Member Posts: 17
We are getting sedan/4 dr. When using CarsDirect numbers, do not use North NJ zip codes - use southern Jersey instead and show them to dealers. You may save $500-700.

I recently returned from Detroit to Atlanta on business, and the Detroit Sunday paper advertises 03 Accords for over $2000 off sticker, which makes sense as we only saw five older Accords around the Detroit area in 2 1/2 days! They love their GM's there, but if one is willing to drive it beats paying sticker for these cars. It took us 11 hours each way from Atlanta, but I would drive that far to save $2000. I hope this helps someone.

The V-6 coupe that you thought had a ridiculous price tag on was probably quickly snapped up by the next shopper.

It's always the prevailing market that determines pricing. You'll like your Acura but it'll depreciate much faster than the Accord will for whatever reason. If you keep your cars a long time, no big deal.

As far as DRL's are concerned, I guess I'm one of those people who hapens to think they are silly. Maybe it's because I'm usually the first one to turn on my own headlights if it's dark, foggy or rainy. Here in Seattle that's pretty often!

I think the Acura is a beautiful care, but I think this bad economy is hurting the sales. When I went to buy my Accord 2003 LX-V6, the finance person told me those who have money are buying and people who don't are leasing.
I noticed on Honda web site there is a special leasing program for the Acura 2003 3.2 CL.
It was a nice feeling to come out the dealership and not have to buy anything extra for the car.
    Happy driving

Found a Canadian Web Site with the 2003 Accord. It's has a great article on the Accord.

Honda bashing viewers please don't go to the site as it may make your weak stomach's queasy.

Edmunds' overview of the accord lists a few pros and cons. One of the cons is "missing key feaures". What "key features" is edmunds referring to? Manual transmission? Xenon lights? Side airbags? I don't consider a manual nor xenon lights to be a key feature in a family sedan. Side airbags are available, albeit not in every trim level. Edmunds needs to clarify what they mean by this.
  • bodydoublebodydouble Member Posts: 801
isell: I don't think so, especially the "much" part.
  • bklynguybklynguy Member Posts: 275
Accord production is not affected since its produced in Marysville ( does that mean that there are no Japanese parts in the US-built Accord )

I also heard that there will be shortages of toys & electronics from now until December in the stores.
  • bklynguybklynguy Member Posts: 275
    unless its an RL
  • robertsmxrobertsmx Member Posts: 5,525
I thought Accords had a few parts (transmission?) that were imported from Japan. So, port shutdown has to have some effect on them.
  • welst10welst10 Member Posts: 49
Sure, market determines pricing. But how do you know about the market when the accord coupe just came out. Whether the market is good remains to be seen. Accord "quickly snapped up by the next shopper" at sticker? we'll see about that, with consumer confidence running low for months. Unless, of course, honda limits the coupe production to like 5000 per year.

Next year I'll be getting a 2003 Accord Coupe, EX model and I have a couple of questions. First off is the wood trim. I looked at Honda's main site, and the way they have the wood design looks ugly to me. I was wondering if they would let me just have the wood trim on the doors and thats it?

About seats, is leather worth the extra $2,000? I plan to get a blue Coupe, and the black leather interior is bound to get hot during the summer. So Im deciding between leather and fabric, and opinions would be nice.
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
You should be able to get some type of aftermarket trim to cover up the wood if you don't like it.

I think leather is worth the money considering it will be easier to resell with the leather depending on what area you are in. And you get the dual zone climate control and power seats.

Jay Honda of Cleveland is selling '03 Accords for $100 under dealer INVOICE--that's not a typo. He has a large ad in today's Plain Dealer newspaper and this pricing appears to include coupes as well as sedans. So, if you're in the Cleveland area, or anywhere close, dont pass this up!! An EX V-6 sedan is $23,574 including destination. That's about $400 under latest carsdirct.com price I've seen.

I own a 97 Honda Accord with about 80,000 miles. Alot of these miles
have been city miles. It seems over the last 30,000 miles or so, my
car rides somewhat more harshly and noisy over rought pavement and bumps. Most notably, when
I go over speed bumps very slow, I hear a squeaking friction
like noise on the rebound. I doubt all of this is due to my tires
since I replaced my Michelen Energy Plus tires with the same ones
about 15,000 miles ago. I am wondering if the problem could be the strutts. So the question is, how long do the stock
shocks/struts last on a 5th Generation Accord (1994-1997)? Could worn
strutts cause the ride harshness, noise and pothole impact that
I am experiencing? How long do the stock strutts last on average?
I don't want to spend the money for new strutts and find out these weren't the problem.
To Accord owners who replaced their strutts, did you get Honda
replacements or did you buy aftermarket ones? If Aftermarket, which
ones do you recommend. I am not looking for top-notch handling, I am
looking for shocks more biased towards ride quality and low noise.
    Thanks

I got my new Accord at the end of last week. Love it! My deal was 23750$ +3%tax ( no other fees) and they threw in muds, wind deflector and ETCH. I am really, really happy with my deal. Dealership is in NC.

    Is the dealer in CHarlotte?

I plan to purchase the LX 4 cyl but I have these questions: 1) Does it have adequate pickup speed for quick-response city driving? 2) Or,
should I consider the LX V-6 instead? 3) On the LX V-4 is the street noise a problem in the
    cabin?
  • jeffrey15jeffrey15 Member Posts: 61
Darmarm, you really need to test drive both and come to your own conclusion. In my opionion the I4 pefectly fine for this car and you don't really NEED the V6. That being said I will probably get the V6 despite even though it really isn't necessary. Its just plain fun.

    Jeff
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
I agree that the 4 will probably be fine for everyday driving. We test drove 2 I4's and they were both quiet but for power you definitely want the V6 especially if you are getting an automatic.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Well, yeah, the "much" part is probably inaccurate unless we are talking about RL's.

I was thinking about a recent experience with an RL.

I saw the coupe for the first time today, and this bloated vehicle is not sporty looking at all. It needs major surgery to trim it down. The previous coupe looked relatively sleeker, IMHO. The sedan on the other hand looks smaller (than the 02) from the front, but has an obese look from the back and side.

Honda can't fool anyone by calling these bloated porkers sporty looking.

"Honda can't fool anyone by calling these bloated porkers sporty looking."

    My sentiments exactly!!!
  • bodydoublebodydouble Member Posts: 801
Every manufacturer uses terms such as sporty, sleek, plush, etc, etc, etc, in their marketing mumbo, jumbo. You'd see this from Honda to Mercedes to Chevy to even Yugo! And they'd apply those descriptions to anything they sell from minivan to sports cars. So I wouldn't read too much into stuff like that. Honda knows what the Accord is -- a highly competent, affordable, mass-appeal family sedan. No more and no less.

i saw the coupe for the first time yesterday and thought the car was sleek and sporty looking.

of course my next car will have to be the g20. LOL
  • yugoboyyugoboy Member Posts: 161
There is no greater joy in life than poking fun at a vw owner(i use to be one until i came to my senses), so i will try not too. Instead i will drive my trusty reliable infiniti g20 till it dies!!! I just dont see the joy in having a new car at the dealership 3 to 6 times a month!!!! I thought this might be a helpful site for you also:

On a brighter note, checked out the ex v6 accord today, gorgeous interior, wont discuss the exterior really no point!!! Here are some nice pic's of the accord, hopefully we can get this wagon over here(minus the tacky chrome door handles and window treatment!!!

Saw the coupe today in silver and graphite and I have to say what a difference the color makes. I saw a sapphire blue and wasn't crazy about it but the coupe looks awesome in silver, graphite, and black. I thought I wanted the aero kits but after seeing one in person I think I will take a basic Coupe with the rear spoiler, fog lights, and mud guards. Like the 4 cylinder wheels better than the V6 wheels but I like the dual exhuast on the V6.

Now my fiance just has to decide whether he wants a 4 cylinder 5-speed EX-L or the 6-speed coupe. Decisions, decisions.
  • bodydoublebodydouble Member Posts: 801
That should be an easy decision, shouldn't it?
  • venus537venus537 Member Posts: 1,443
even though i'm a happy vw owner, i think my fellow jetta owners deserve to be made fun of.

oh, they can keep the wagon.
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
Well the decision isn't that easy if you figure that you can almost get a CL-S 6-speed for the price of the Accord. And the 4 cylinder is $5000 cheaper. But since he's a man he will probably end up with a V6.
  • ajaymeajayme Member Posts: 74
I noticed that in the Honda parts description for the fog light kit, that you can't install the outside temp. gauge. Since the EXV6 comes with the temp. gauge already installed, does anyone know if the fog light kit can be fitted to the EXV6?

    Hi group,

The wife and I love the new Accord. We purchased the EX 4 cyl. I have one question: the owners manual says approx 17 gal gas tank ...but both times I've run the gas down to the light (getting a feel of when to panic)...and each time I could only get approx 13 gals of gas in (that was topped off). Am I reading the manual right? I'm sure there would not be 4 gals left once the light came on.....use to be about 1.5 to 1.7 once the light came on....any help here?
Other than that the car is more than we expected.
  • moonkatmoonkat Member Posts: 265
Seems most vehicles nowadays have about 4 gals remaining when gas light goes on....99 Ody - 4 gals; 03 Pilot - 4 gals; 87 Z28 - 3-4 gals...

Better question is what mpg with iVtec4...???

Yesterday, I test drove the new Accord. It was a EXV6 sedan in the Graphite color. The ride was wonderful. IMO, I think the ride was better than the Accord. Less wind noise. Probably will go to the BMW dealer. I know that these 3 cars are not in the same price range but it is a BMW and I can afford it. If I forget about the 330i, I will definitely go with the Accord EXV6. I just love it. I guess if I go with the Accord, I'll go with Graphite Pearl. I heard it looks good with the grill on the sedan but does that color show alot of dirt? If so, I'll probably get splash guards which I have on my 99 Accord EX. If not I probably will get them anyway because winter is coming up. One time, there was a big rain storm and my brother was on the Northern State Parkway in his 98 Altima SE and all of the dirt went from the tire to the side view mirror and all over the doors. The car was maroon so the dirt was very noticeable. He wished he got splash guards. :)
  • bodydoublebodydouble Member Posts: 801
How close is the price of the Accord to the CL-S 6-speed down at your neck of the woods? Up here it's not that close. If the prices are close then I would get the CL-S in heartbeat.
  • talon95talon95 Member Posts: 1,110
"Yesterday, I test drove the new Accord. ... The ride was wonderful. IMO, I think the ride was better than the Accord."

The Accord's ride is better than the Accord's ride? I'm confused...
