Hello, I have a 2001 Legacy. The AC compressor won't engauge. I checked the relay, fuses, and alll are O.K. I have traced the problem to the AC Pressure switch. If a jump the switch the compressor runs. I can not figure out how to replace just the pressure switch. It appears to be connected to the dryer. Can the switch be replaced by iteself?

The shop manual for my '02 shows the receiver/dryer and the pressure switch to be a single figure number, so it is probably not available as a separate replaceable part from Subaru. However, you might check with a refrigeration supply house, as they often have more options. Either way, you are going to have to dump the charge, pump and refill.

Did you check the line pressure? Are you really sure that the switch isn't telling the truth and you have leaked down below minimum safe value for running the compressor (around 30 psi)?
