I have a 2001 5 speed manual transmission, the 4wheel drive does not engage, the green dash light just flashes. While the light is flashing I can move from 4 high to 4 low and the rear seem to run in low gear. but no power on the front in either high or low. I can hear it actuate when I press the button on the dash. Any suggestions as to what the issue is ?

You may want to give Isuzu Trooper Transmission Problems a try.

I looked there but I could only find reference to automatic transmissions

My 4wd only engages when the car has driven less than ~5ish miles.

It's the lever engaged 4wd drive system, both the axle switch and the transfer case switch are functional. I even tried a bypass switch in parallel to the transfer case switch.

let the car sit and cool, and it will work again for a few miles.

tomorrow I will see if the signal to the solenoids actually changes after ~5 miles and see if I am somehow loosing vacuum.

anybody has the location and pin-out of the 4wd module?
anybody has any suggestions, similar experience??

    Thanks
