I suppose it's possible Honda is doing this in selected regions but that would be highly unusual for them to do this.

With slim Odyssey inventories it wouldn't make much sense.

I'll bet the dealers are buying the rates down but I could be wrong.

Sorry! Didn't mean to omit that. I'm in Dallas - FTW.
We put our deposit down today and are going to complete the sale in the morning. I'll post following that.

Which dealer did u buy your car from ? Did you try looking in No. Virginia.

Also, I am looking for a Odyssey, which includes Navigation system and entertainment system. Can someone recommend any dealers in Washington DC metro area ? How was you experience dealing with the salesman/woman ?

Just bought a Honda EX at Muller Honda for $25995. Got 1.9%APR. Smooth transaction. Got couple of quotes but decided to go for this dealer which is close to our home. 1.9% APR only avaible for this weekend.
  • muddyriverduckmuddyriverduck Member Posts: 18
I got 2.9% today on my Odyssey EXL-R&N for 48 months. Honda is offering 1.9, 2.9 and 3.9% on everything. I'm in Ohio. Canada is probably different.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
If this isn't a bought down rate by the dealer, they muyst have done a regional thing which is very unusual for Honda to do.

    Interesting...
  • michaelc2michaelc2 Member Posts: 9
is the $400 listed and not added properly or was the option listed without the price. if it was the latter then you could probably force the issue and hold them to the price. it seems like you want to do the right thing and let them correct the mistake, the person who made the error will be happy not to get their backside chewed out. i have had this situation happen to me and we had to honor the price despite the customer knowing that it was an honest mistake. it speaks volumes about your character that you want to do the right thing.

    dear folks,

I have been looking for a Honda Odyssey for a while, and have decided on a EX with leather and RES. Our local honda dealership is looking to sell their demo model, which is in excellent condition, has 1300 miles (was used by owner's wife), and they are asking 30,500 for it. (They have put in roof rack, fog lights, and the protection package on it which they say cost 1197.)

what do folks think? any suggestions for how much a new EX-L with RES is going for now? I am also curious to see if there is any new info on the interest situation for this weekend.

we are in upstate new york, by the way.

Ads here in Columbus, Ohio, are saying that 1.9/2.9/3.9 financing applies to all Hondas and "dealer contribution may affect consumer cost."

It sounds as though it is a buy-down on certain models, including Odysseys.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
The dealers are buying down the rate.
  • cadub49ercadub49er Member Posts: 42
$32,349+ destination @ Honda of Santa Ana (Orange County)...wondering if I should have grinded for another $500? brand spanking new with 2 miles on it interested in anyone's feedback.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Are you happy? If so, I would just enjoy your new ride. People buy cars than then come here and ask..." Did I get a good deal?"

Usually, some spoil sport will come along to rain on your parade by telling you you paid too much.

and, that Odyssey should have had more than 2 miles on it! I sure hope they did a Pre Delivery Inspection. The techs need to drive the cars several miles to make sure all is O.K.
  • heywood1heywood1 Member Posts: 851
Of course, a saleman will never think you paid too much....
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
That's right. If a person is comfortable with the price they paid, they didn't pay "too much".
  • cadub49ercadub49er Member Posts: 42
point well taken.....i felt good about it considering i have not seen a lot of posts for experiences in So Calif and the OC and it is one of the most in demand....by the way, good remark re: pre-delivery inspection. They did test everything.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
But I think a new car has to have a minimum of ten miles before delivery. They usually have 4-5 miles when they come off the trucks.

    Greetings:

Just finalized a deal on an EXL-RES. Here's what I paid:

    29086 Base including 515 Destination.
    1745.16 Tax (@6%)
    30831.16 Subtotal
    319 Registration
    7.50 Tire tax
    149 Doc. Fee

    31306.66 Total (out the door)

I reviewed the numbers in person with the sales rep and agreed to them over the phone about an hour later, at which time I paid a $500 deposit by credit card. I agreed to pay balance at time of pickup.

    Opinions on the deal?

Any advice on potential risks that I should be aware of at time of pick-up?

    Many thanks,

    Michael

    Hi All,

We made a rather hasty purchase today! Had only done a little research... and walked out after signing papers for a 2005 Odyssey Ex-Leather, with protection package. 29k 'out the door' cost. (That's exactly the total amount we paid.)

I'm trying to figure out the going rate for the car ... I really thought we got a fair deal... can anyone confirm? What is everyone else paying?

    Thanks!
  • marmichmarmich Member Posts: 7
    Thanks for feedback.

I figured it at $300 under invoice as well, and confirmed this with the sales rep. All equipment Honda.

I also had a competing dealer who offered inv-350 (but at the last minute couldn't come through with any of the configurations I wanted, despite having assured me on the phone that he had them on hand. I suspect he just wanted to get me in the door.)

A third offered invoice-400 but only if he could see see the written offer at inv-300 which my initial sales rep declined to provide without my agreeing to the purchase price.

Reason for asking now (after the fact) is to see if my strategy worked versus others that may be reported. If the price turns out to be competitive as hoped, I will probably use it for future auto purchases. (FYI, I used the "fax attack" approach based on strategy and info from fightingchance.com. I was pleased with the results and the ~$40 I spent was well worth the investment.)

    Many thanks.

    That is a great deal.
can I ask what dealership in what city you went to get this?
  • maulanamaulana Member Posts: 55
there have been some reports of 3.9 or 4.9 rates on Odyssey. Has anyone had luck this weekend with such rates?
  • cadub49ercadub49er Member Posts: 42
    rec'd 3.9% on 60 months....it was 1.9 for 36 and 2.9 for 48
  • ks96ks96 Member Posts: 7
We rec'd 3.9 / 60 mo today. I was told by the finance manager that it was a honda-wide offer....
Great dealer, great experience. Frank Kent Honda in Fort Worth, Texas....would recommend them time and again. Espec over other honda dealers we've used in the D/FW area previously.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
There is no way to tell how good a deal you got based on an "out the door" price given that taxes rates vary widely.
  • sillysilly Member Posts: 2
We got it from Anderson in Baltimore. We didn't try any dealers in NoVA.
  • maulanamaulana Member Posts: 55
    dear folks,

I am curious to find out what kind of prices folks are getting vis-a-vis invoice prices. It seems like some are able to get 300-500 over invoice, and even one person under invoice, which seems astonishing for a car that is so highly rated now.

Ideally I am interested in Ex-L prices, but would be curious to have other info for comparison.

anyone have other prices to share?
  • needavan2needavan2 Member Posts: 1
Negotiated a tentative deal today. EX-L for $27,500 including destination. May look around a little more to see if I can get more for my trade. Other than that, very happy. Plan to take advantage of 2.9% 48 month offer.

Shopping in the bay area and LA for EX-L RES/Navi. Best quote I've received from soliciting from 15 dealers is $33,010 (most are quoting me $34K +. Anyone out there can provide advice on whether this is probably the best I can find in these high demand markets? Thanks.
  • pps88pps88 Member Posts: 6
Give the internet manager at the honda dealers in Fresno, Clovis...they should be able to beat that by $300-500.
  • mdusermduser Member Posts: 1
Great comparison info. on this site. Thanks for sharing.

    Three questions for the group:

    1. Does the Invoice + X pricing quoted here include destination charges?

    2. What is the best price anyone knows of for EX or EX-L in the Maryland/ Penn/ West Virginia area?

    3. What dealer has offered or transacted that price?

    Thanks.

I got my ex-l r/n, but found two scraches - one in the Nav panel and one driver's side outside. The dealership said they will fix them later and we drove it home. I kind of thought that I could have done better in terms of reducing the price. any thought or suggestion? Anyone has the same situation?
  • geebogeebo Member Posts: 3
I have a target price in mind for an EX-L with RES and NAVI, but I have no idea how to factor in the price of accessories.

Does anyone know the invoice price on accessories? I'm looking at the all-season protection package, cross bars, cargo mat, fog lights, and subwoofer. I'm guessing that the mark-up on these items is about 50% or more.

Got a counter offer from a dealer of $250 over invoice price of vehicle plus retail price of all accessories (plus labor cost for items requiring labor - i.e. fog lights). I think I can do a little better than that.

Any help would be appreciated! I am hoping to close the deal by close of business today.

Is it true that the silver pearl metallic is a high demand, low supply color? We're looking to purchase an '05 EX-L w/ RES and NAVI and just can't find it in Silver Pearl Metallic. Dealers are saying that they are in short supply and hard to find. Local dealer said they will "locate" vehicle for $200. Call me crazy, but I don't want to spend an extra $200 to have someone drive my vehicle from another dealer to my dealer, adding as much as 50 or more miles to the mileage on the van.

What about having the dealer order direct from the factory? Time is not an issue - I can put a deposit down and wait a month or more as long as I'm getting what I want.

    Thoughts?

I'm also looking at a 2005 Odyssey Touring with DVD and RES in South FL. Low quote so far is $36,077. Where is your dealer quote of $35,623 located?

geebo, although they don't list the invoice prices for accessories, the best figures are available at the websites of College Hills Honda and H and A Accessories (a site sponsor here).

I have fog lights on my Touring and, unless you really need them, they are a waste of money IMHO (especially given what they cost installed).

$250 over invoice on an EX-L R&N is a great price.
  • duhilyduhily Member Posts: 2
I would not pay an extra $200 to get the silver color. It depends on where you live, we're in Ohio and got the silver (ex-l r&n) easily last week. We were told that the Ocean Mist is the one with a high demand, not the silver.

I have same problem - I picked up my Ody on Tuesday early evening and noticed there is a very small/tiny piece of debris that was painted over by Honda. What worries me is that it is on the side panel below window, so if and when it fells out, it exposes the undercoating and from there to rusting is a short trip. I also checked the Honda Service History booklet that van came with and I see that two different people "verified" good paint job of this van !!! When I took it to the dealer they said I need to talk to the service manager -who was out for a long weekend - but everybody agreed that it needs to be fixed and couple of advisors even suggested that they may need to scrape it off and repaint the whole panel. So my question is - should I ask for some price break or amount back because the van had a paint flaw, which everybody sees now, yet they signed it off as vehicle with a good paintjob. Any advice is appreciated. I paid for this EX with destination, mudguards, wheel locks and 4 free oil changes for a year 786.00 over invoice.

Got a great deal today from one of the chicago land dealership, I started the car research on 05, Honda Ody EX cloth three days ago, made 2 hours phone call and bunch of emails, finially got an offer today for a silver one at 27400$ OTD which include cargo tray, splash guard, wheel lock , 7% tax, title/doc and plate. etc everything included. It has below 10 mileage on the car and no scratch or anything like that. Stopped by did the test drive, everything likes perfect. The car is in my garage now. Good luck for you all!

utahclimber, the VCM '05 Odyssey is, in fact, rated at 20/28. If you are getting within 10% of the city figure as you claim, you have no reason to grip and many would be happy to get such mileage.

Would like to meet your friends who are getting 30 mpg "straight off the lot" as no one here as ever claimed such an achievement.
  • geebogeebo Member Posts: 3
Wow... If I can only take a trip out there. I can't find a silver pearl metallic EX-L R&N at any of the local dealers. Deal fell through at a local (New England) dealer because I won't budge on color preference.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,590
18 isn't too bad around town. Overall, people that I have heard from (on this and another Ody-specific forum), aren't getting great mileage. Nature of the beast that you aren't going to quite get the EPA numbers in normal driving, but keep in mind that the Odys ratings are better than most of the compitition.

Getting 18 MPG is not going to get you a new van,

I agree with CC that no one is getting 30 MPG, except maybe on a very specific drive (flat land, not exceeding 60 MPH). Remember, this is a 4,500 pound box, with 255 HP. You can't expect too much.

Enjoy all the features you bought the van for.

Oh, we have an EX-l, and get about 17 around town (real short hop stuff), and on our last highway trip (some local miles, lots of fast running on the road) we got about 24-25 overall. Close enough to the sticker numbers for me.

    Folks,

Anyone know if Honda has any incentive going related to Odyssey? I believe I am getting pretty good quotes from dealers in NJ, mostly invoice or couple of hundred dollars under invoice + destination, but want to make sure that I am not missing anything.

    Thanks in advance
  • cadub49ercadub49er Member Posts: 42
Rec'd internet quote from Honda of Corona at $32,488 and did a $32,349 deal at Honda of Santa Ana so somewhere between $32-33K is defintiely possible.
  • marmichmarmich Member Posts: 7
Joyce Honda in Denville, NJ. I suspect it helped that it was the end of the month and we took one that they had on hand. Best wishes.

    Hi,
Thanks all who did research before me in this forum. I drove 150 miles and got the Touring w/ DVD+NAV from Yuba City, north of Sacramento:

    Date: 5/6/05
    Selling price: $37,137
    Sales Tax: $3,067.52
    Doc fee: $45
    License: $304
    State Tire Fee: $7
    --------------------------
    Total: $40,560.52

Because my wife only want Olive interior color so the only choise we like is Slate Green Metallic Exterior color. I have asked around for more than a month, and only Yuba City made a big effort to trade the one we wanted from Tracy Honda ( we knew it later that they got it from Tracy Honda). Well, the end result is there are around 150 miles on the Odyseey - it is fine with us. Here is more info:

Millar Honda $36,137 (well, they keep politely saying they don't have
our color. Their location is close to LA)
Auburn Honda $37,000 but no my color
Honda of El Cerrito $37,268 + wheel lock & door edge but don't have my
    color
    Jim Doten Honda $37,998
    Oakland Honda $38,260
    Honda of Hayward $38,310
    San Lendro Honda $38,310
Walnut creek Honda $38,510 has exact color I want and I want lower price
    Vacaville Mazda, Vacaville $38,500
    Vacaville Honda $38,810
Ocean Honda, Capitola MSRP (ie. $39,010)
    Steven Creek Honda over MSRP
    South Bay Honda $39,858

If you are not picky on color then you may get better price, and if you don't want DVD+NAV then you can even have more negiotation power because Honda push out more Odyssey wo/ DVD+NAV.

So far I love my Odyssey, the NAV is much better than my 2001 Benz S430. I was once almost purchase an Odyssey with dealer installed DVD+ NAV. It was not a good move because it will not have voice command and I need to seperately purchase of rear camera.

Help the above help the others :)

Edmunds invoice on an 05' Odyssey EX-L RES? i just recieved a offer of $33176.70, Out the door, without negotiations at all. Is this good? Thanks in Advance.
  • weitogoweitogo Member Posts: 7
    Hi,

We bought a silver Odyssey EX-L for $28048, actually $99 over invoice. With 6% tax and $108.50 title, documentation fee, etc, the total price tag is $29,839.38.

The van has mud guards already. My husband said that worth extra $127. Is that not included in the EX-L? That would be an added bonus.

Good luck shopping all of you!!

    Thanks,

    Wei

I got mine couple weeks ago from Scott Honda at West Chester, PA.
I traded in my 2004 EXL-RES with 13K miles for 21,200, and I used 31200 for 2005 EXL with NAV and RES for negotiation. My total out of door price was 10,775, which included all the registration and documentation after the trade in. They have two in stock with the color I like. I picked the one I like with only 3.5 miles on the meter.

The only option they included was the hand printed pinstripe.

My saleswoman was excellent and was willing to close the deal.
  • dhfddhfd Member Posts: 22
In CR they advise not to get the extended warranty. But it seems if you're going to have the car longer than 3 years, (and it doesn't take long for 36K miles to pile on) it seems to make sense to get it

Any thoughts? If you did get the Honda warranty w/ no deductible, how much did you pay? I've heard there's a 3rd party warranty too.

    thanks

I am also disappointed in the mileage I have been receiving on my '05 Odyssey. I'm actually at 16-18 city and 22 highway. Not very close to the great mileage advertised at the dealership. :(
