just purchased from sport honda in silver spring maryland for 33515 plus 89$ processing fee plus tax/ title . Overall very good experience, the most competetive price in 10 dealerships. We did have a little bump with going to p/u a silver pearl which we called an hour before to confirm they had and when we got there 45 minutes later they did not have it. The original color we wanted was white so we took that. Nice car very happy with it.

The time based incentive is pure BS. Even if you go after 10 days they will give you the full incentive. Its just a tactic to bring the customer to their door soon. The dealer holdback from Honda is 2% of base MSRP and this has been confirmed by multiple dealers. Used to be 3% before but has been reduced to 2% now (its been 5-6 mnths)

Dealers have multiple level of hold-backs and bonuses tied to vehicle sales. The 2% holdback is on a single vehicle but there are other tiers of holdbacks/bonuses that kick in when the dealer makes a certain number of sales. Maybe that explains how many dealers dip below the 2% holdback.

Hi Jim, Looks like the best deal on a 08 Touring NO Pax.
Does the van have any additional things like wheel locks / Splash guards etc?

And based on your post looks like 33515 includes the destination charge of $635, right ? if thats the case then Quote + Dest + Processeing = $33604 !!!

Purchased a 2008 EX-L for 26,760 (includes freight) + TTL + processing fee at the Leesburg, VA Honda dealorship on 3-12-2008
They gave me a great trade in amount of 4500.00 on my 2000 Odyssey EX (leather, NAV, but had the tell-tale signs of a failing tranny)
CarMax would only give me 2500.00 and Liberty Nissan in Chantilly would give me 4000.00.

I purchased the Hondacare 80k or 8 year warranty. After my previous Honda Odyssey with a bad Tranny at 85-90,000 miles, I needed a little reassurance with the extended Hondacare warranty.

    Good Luck!

Sorry, but the real BS is your claim that a store would honor an incentive that is no longer available. The current $2000 incentive is manufacturer to dealer (who is free to pass all, some, or none on to the customer). It has nothing to do with holdback or sales bonuses.

Wow, this price appears to be the lowest I've seen for a touring on this forum. Although I am in NYC, I would purchase it in MD for this price. Please forward salesman name etc. Thanks

My dealer is asking $26,995 for an EXL without navi & RES (plus TTF) (tax, title and freight ). Whats the difference between destination charges and freight? He says he has included the destination charges in $26,995 .
What is my loss in the overall deal and should i pay him freight charges too ? Just confused and need help in understanding their tricks !!

Has anyone purchased the buyers packets from'FightingChance'? I decided to this time, due to my experience 2 years ago when purchasing our Impala. I was able to get the dealer down to a cost cheaper than I calculated as their cost. I thought I had all incentives and buy backs included, but I must have missed something. I want to better ensure I don't leave any money on the table this time. I also don't want to take customers from FightingChance so I don't want to post all the details I get in the packet, but I will post the final price I get for the Odyssey. I just hope it gives me more information than I already have.

Hope this helps others. I took my brand new 2008 Ody Ex OTD 25800 (after all fees and 6% MD tax). Dealer also added splash gaurds and wheel locks.

Sorry cccompson if my post was not clear, I was not talking about the $2000 mfr->dlr incentive. I was clarifying about the $500 additional discount on top of the $2000 incentive that this specific dealer was offering and this discount was time sensitive as per the quote email. The original question that I was trying to answer is how a dealer can pass on all incentives plus holdback and still afford to reduce the price by $500 more.

Does anyone have a good site or experience negotiating accessories? I would like to get several of them, the biggest one being the towing hitch. I know the price on the Honda website does not include the dealers' installation, but does have a dealer mark-up already in them. Thus we don't know the dealers' costs of these assessories. I got some quotes with the dealers' installation included and they seem to be making a pretty good profit on selling these. E.g. The cost of a cargo net is $66 (Includes dealer's mark-up), but they priced me at $102. So they want $37 for installation? I think it might be better just to get most of the accessories uninstalled and install them myself. Probably not feasible, but that is piracy in my opinion. I saw an earlier post that referred to a dealer's website that offered actual costs, or close to it, but I can't see to find it now. Has anyone had luck going back into the dealship after the sale to get the accessories? I wondered if they might cut you a better deal after the sale of the van was complete. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently multiple dealers have relatively easy access to additional holdbacks/bonus (or they are feeding me lines).

After countering the intial quotes (generated donkeypunch style via Honda website) with the low one from Laurel Honda, 3 dealers have replied. Only 1 has told me to take a hike - no way they can sell to me at that price. 1 has confirmed they will beat the price by $100, another says they will match it. Even after I said I was paying cash (with no trade) and would not accept or pay for any options or accessories.

I still need to vet their sincerity, not sure if they are just trying to get me in the door. And trying to get some dealers in closer zip codes to respond in kind so that walking out on deal is less time wasting on my part should they try to not honor offer after I explcitly refuse to purchase anything else from them (accessories/service plan/extanded warranty/etc.).

Can you tell me the car price only?
    I get 24900 for EX.
I thought it still be too high.
    Thank you.

With the savings of $3500, you can buy an extended warranty. If the carfax came back clean than it would be a good deal if thats what you want. I personally am too much of a clean freak and you just don't know how good the dealership cleaned up and prepped the interior of the van......dirty diapers, spilled milk.....etc....
I traded in an 05 EX-L RES for a 08 EX-L R&N and the ride difference is amazing and much improved.
  • gohonda12gohonda12 Member Posts: 19
I would recommend anyone who is in the market for an Odyssey to quickly close in on a deal and get the extended warranty online a few days before April 1 2008. (It takes a few days to do the online paper work) After April 1st online sale of Honda Care Extended Warranty plans will be discontinued. Then the local dealers will be free to charge a hefty premium (500$ or more) for these. I would definitely recommend buying an extended warranty especially if you are buying an EX or above. See the other threads in this forum to gauge the number of issues other owners have.

So if you think you can save a few hundred dollars by waiting till the last day of the month, you may end up paying more for the extended warranty, overall loosing money. You may also ask the dealer to match the online price and perhaps roll the ex warranty in your auto loan.

    Hi larrybowls,

Thanks. I closed the deal on a brand new 2008 Odyssey EX for $25800 OTD. My wife was very particular with the new since the price difference was just $3200, and we could get the color that we need. I have posted the details on my transaction on post #18565.
  • mobileappmobileapp Member Posts: 13
Destination and Freight are the same things, which is about $635.

I am follwoing the Touring Prices so I can not comment about the EX-L.

    Thanks

I hear from the Pilot Forums that AHFC is starting the low APR financing deal again and like the previous one (Feb 15-24) this could be potentially combined with the manufacturer to dealer incentive of $2000. Ask your dealer for details and it could be regional too. This financing deal starts today.

"*2.9% APR with qualified credit for 36 months. 3.9% APR with qualified credit for up to 60 months. Available on new 2008 Honda Accord, Pilot, Odyssey, Civic and S2000 models. Expires 3-24-08."

Ah, ok, now it makes much more sense. I apologize for jumping on you.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
While I hope you find it of benefit the consensus here is that it offers nothing of value.
  • ohioeagleohioeagle Member Posts: 18
Are the accessories like the door edge guards, air deflector, cross bars, 3rd row sunshaed, and dark wood trim easy to install yourself. I think I am ready to finally hit the car lots with an offer, but I'm afraid that I'll get taken when it comes to the accessories. I know there is already a dealer mark-up in the prices on Honda's website, but then the dealers are marking them up a lot more for installation. I don't see how they can charge for installing things like a cargo mat and cargo net. Has anyone tried to install these accessories themselves? Also, would anyone recommend getting a non-manufactrer towing hitch? they want around $1,200 installed and that seems high. I was just thinking of having one installed after I bought the van. Any thoughts on my dilema?
    -Thanks

I really had a great experience, I dealt with Damian Corbett. There was really no back and forth dealer non sense at all. Overall this dealership seems to be very upfront.
  • riley3riley3 Member Posts: 29
Many accessories can be purchased other than from a dealer. For trailer hitches look at etrailer.com to get information. Then check out local hitch companies that will be less expensive than from a dealer. I just bought Honda splash guards from Bernardi Honda for $53 plus $10.49 shipping. Looks like a simple installation. They also have other accessories. Good luck

which one EX, EXL, EXLRES/NVI and what is the price? Please give the breakdown
  • ohioeagleohioeagle Member Posts: 18
Does anyone know the invoice price for a 2008 EX-L? I have seen a range of numbers from $29,201 to a little over $30K. From my research and calculations, I think the invoive price (excluding $635 Destination) is $29,166. I am about to e-mail out an offer to several dealerships and I want to break out my logic behind the offer so they take me seriously. I will be sure to post what final price I get.

I live in Oklahoma, I wonder if the local dealers will price match the quote from this website. Anyone out there who live in Oklahoma care to share what's considered a good price for 08 EX-L w/o NAV & RES? Btw, that's teh destination and freight fees anyway? I've tried few dealers here and never heard about those term before. Just price +TTL+doc. Any help is appreciated.
  • larrybowlslarrybowls Member Posts: 16
Great deal!! Anytime you can buy a new vehicle OTD lower than the invoice price is a great deal. Plus you get the pleasure of getting the color that you want and the peace and luxury of having a brand new vehicle. Congrats on your purchase and best of luck to you and your family. What color did you get? ;)

Can anyone confirm for sure that these rates are coming back for March? I just started the process of quotes from dealers here in NC. Best quote so far is from Auto Park Honda in Cary... "08 Honda Odyssey EXl-RES is 28686.00 plus 3% tax, 398.00 documentary/administrative fee, and 74.00 registration fee. This comes to 30018.58 out the door." Reasonable? Would love to get the 3.9% for 60 months if this is true. THANKS!
  • dewingjdewingj Member Posts: 2
Hi, I am getting quotes right now at $36k for a Touring w/o PAX. OTD is estimated at about $38,500. I am in MN and am intending to take advantage of the 3.9% financing for 60 months.

Has anyone purchased one of these lately who could give me advice on this price?

    Thank you in advance!
  • odybuyer3odybuyer3 Member Posts: 9
ohioeagle: i've used Edmunds.com and run a pricing report on the model you're interested in. For EXL, invoice lists at $29,166 + $635 destination charge.

I can't find anywhere on Honda's website to purchase the Honda Care extended warranty. Can you please provide a little more direction? I wanted to look at their prices vs. other warranties out there.

Check my message #18488 of Mar 2. I bought a 2008 Touring for $34,298 including a $200 Friends and Family coupon from Luther Hopkins Honda. Check Honda website for dealers in area then send same message to each. You'll get responses quickly. The $2000 factory to dealer rebate has been extended so prices should be about the same. I took best price, without haggle, when I found they had my color. Good luck

Just signed on a 2008 EXL-RES in NJ. What do you think of this deal.

    36 months/ 15K

$1000 out of pocket which includes first month payment, motor vehicles, doc, etc..

$438 a month, taxes are in the payment.

They also gave us the cross bars for the roof racks for $300, which they said were 700.

It was the best deal in our area. What do you think? I'm seeing these incredible deals on edmonds, but it seems like they are all in Florida.

    Thanks!
  • ohioeagleohioeagle Member Posts: 18
Those prices are in the range from what I have been able to negotiate this far. My best offer has been $28,750 'out the door' for a base EX-L. You have not missed out on the financing This is what I received from a dealer just last Friday:

We have 2.9 % financing for 24 – 36 months or 3.9 % for 37 – 60 months for all 2008 Accords, Civics, Odysseys, Pilots and Ridgelines. These rates are only good from Friday, March 14th – Monday March 24th.

Just make sure you get the deal done by the 24th if you want the special financing.
Has anyone else received a better price recently for an EX-L? Please reply and let us know.
    -Thanks

I'm trying to decide whether to purchase PAX or not. I read the message board and see the vast majority of the discussion surrounding the issue as anti-PAX. I'm about to purchase a Honda Odyssey Touring (Arlington, VA) within a few days and my dealer is pushing the PAX very hard. In fact, they say they only have PAX on the lot; they could get me it w/o but would have to have sent over. The implication is that most people buy the Touring with PAX; and I'm somehow missing something if I choose not to get it.

I worry about being on vacation in Outer Banks, NC and have a flat. Will I be able to find someone to fix my tire without being stranded for 3 days? I don't want to plan my trips/vacation around the proximity of a tire shop's ability to service PAX.

Is there anyone out there happy with PAX? I've read many of the complaints here and elsewhere but are these complaints, while valid, a minority? Is anyone comfortable enough to say the issue is settled? I don't want the betamax. I know the pros and the cons, but feel the issue is still not settled. :confuse:

    Please help...
