Recently I took my '95 -cab 4x4 on an 800 mile trip to Virginia. Along the way were several construction zones with radar signs which told you you speed as you passed. For each one (3 total) it indicated I was traveling 4 mph slower than what my speedometer was reading. The tires on my truck are the 265/75r16 variety which is the EM tire size indicated inside the door panel. I would think that if Chevy manufactured the truck with this optional tire size installed that they would have adjusted the speedometer to compensate. Anyone else experience this?

Our 2000 K2500 crew cab also has the stock tires on it and reads about 5 mph faster than what you are doing.

reads three mph faster than the truck is going. I borrowed a moving mode radar for a couple weeks to test it. The odometer, however, is right on after fifteen miles of mile posts on the Illinois Tollway. My wipers were not working some of the time, but worked every time I got a chance to check it out. I took the connecter off the motor and sprayed the terminals with WD-40 a few weeks ago, and haven't had a problem since.

Recently, my 98 C/K's fuel gage is off by about 1/4 of a tank. When I fill it, It pegs out past F, but as I burn off fuel, the gage says it has about a quarter tank more than is really in it. Anyone else having a similar problem? Any suggestions? Truck is perfect otherwise.

Aug of 2000. A 2000 C2500. It was built Jan 2000 at 12:55 in Arlington, Texas. The workers must have had a good lunch, beacause they made this truck defect free. No problems so far one year later and 34,990 miles. I added a few mods and upgrades. Only thing I ve had to replace was a cracked windshield from flying pebble.

I own a 1993 chevy ext cab 2wd with the 5.7 lt motor that has 108k miles.
Has anyone else had a paint problem? The white on my two tone paint is flaking off. Do I need to have the truck sanded down to bare metal and repaint the whole thing?
Also, my chrome grill is peeling badly. Does anyone know where I can get a new custom grill for my truck?.
I am a new user of this site and am looking forward to lots of information
    Thanks

Yes you need to get it to bare metal cause the paint was defective. Would have been covered under warranty if it had done it within or a little after that period. Grill replacement can be found at most truck parts site. They have a lot of variety and all kinds of pricing as I wouldn't want to spend the money on custom or factory replacement.

In June of '99 I took my '95 K1500 to the Chevy dealer I bought it from because it was leaking coolant. They replaced the intake manifold gasket. Well, about 2 weeks ago it started leaking again, 2+ years & 25k miles later, so I brought it back in. They said the gasket had failed, and the manifold had pitted from the coolant. So I let them replace the manifold as well (the technician said he could've siliconed over the pits in the old manifold). Now, my qustion is: do you think a leak will develop again, maybe because of an imperfection on the heads, or is it good to go for 150k+ this time because the old manifold was always bad? I don't know what the manifold looked like the first time the gasket was replaced, or if the tech checked the heads. I assume he did, but...

$300 the first time and $700 this last time tells me get a Ford next time.

    BTW, it's a 305 with 69k...

intake manifold. Way cheaper than stock...maybe half the price.

I wouldn't assume that it would be good to go another 150K miles because of the intake manifold change. Hopefully there was no warpage in the heads.

Do you know of a good mechanic? They are usually better at this than the dealers are and don't mark up the parts as much. They would probably had gone with the edlebrock aftermarket manifold which is better than stock.

    Good luck!!

I thought about going with an aftermarket one, but I assumed it would've cost more... that'll teach me...

There are a few mechanics around. However, (or unfortunately) the Chevy dealer still is the most knowledgeable. Although the Amoco station is looking promising...
