Rust on Wheel Drums : 335i

edited July 2014 in BMW
I have a 2009 BMW with 2,900 miles on it and keep it in a garage. My problem is with the rust on the wheel drums. When I took it in for maintenance, I was informed that I should expect the rust since I live close to the ocean. I am planning to push back, but want to know if anyone else has experienced this.

I've been driving for nearly 40 years and I've never once had a car that didn't have rust around the "hat" area of my disk brakes, BMWs included. Said another way, "pushing back" won't get you very far.

    Best regards,

Agreed. If it bugged me that much(it doesn't) I'd simply pull the wheels and hit the disc hats with semi-gloss black engine paint. Problem solved.

Should have ordered the upgraded drum brakes...

Better yet, steel wheels with wheel covers!

    :surprise:

I was at the airport the other day and saw a really clean 740 (about 10 years old, I don't know the E series for that) with black "dust guards" installed behind the wheels.
