Oil pressure sensor

I have a 97 Bonneville SE
I replaced the 3800 and the oil pressure gauge stays pegged till you shut off car. I figure it needs new sending unit but do not know where it is, can anyone help with this issue?

The oil pressure sender is above the oil filter.

Probably taking off the right front wheel, then popping off the plastic splash guard exposing the side of the motor is the best access. This is the same as you would use to get to the motor mount spacer to remove it to replace the serpentine belt.

Recently replaced 3.8 with new gaskets, oil sending unit. The gage fluxuates from low at idle, to good at higher rpm. It smokes white after idleing all through 1st gear. 2002 Bonneville. Any suggestions.?
