Really need a clue here... I have a 2002 Jaguar S-Type 3.0.I purchased it almost a year ago. It has only 35,000 miles on it and is in basically mint condition. About a month ago, the window on the driver's side made a noise that sounded like broken glass and will not roll down. A couple of weeks later, I unrolled the passenger side window and the window just fell. So... now one window is stuck all the way up and the other is all the way down. Trying to get fix without getting ripped off from the Jaguar dealership. Do I need a window regulator? I have seen them sold for about $90 dollars. Also, the radio and CD player. A constant problem. One day I turn it on, clear as a bell the next day it almost sounds like the speakers are blown or no sound at all. obviously, some type of electrical problem. Does anyone have any clues or direction or costs that they may have experienced the same thing? I love this car handles like a dream even though it's almost a decade old... HELP!!!

I don't know if you've received an answer yet but here ya go:

I had the same problem with the drive side window. The crunching, crackling sound is the wire fraying. Once the wire is frayed the motor can no longer coil and uncoil the wire which is why the window doesn't move. It's worse in cold weather; I never roll the windows down first thing in the morning in the winter because it's guaranteed to fray this wiring. As for the passenger side, it sounds similar but probably a different problem or a combination of problems.

I had to replace the drive side motor. The motor is expensive, as expected, but the labor does not need to be done by a jag mechanic. Any good mechanic shop should be able to do this. So far I've only had to do this once and mine is sitting just over 128k miles.

    Hope this helps.
