curious about the flimsiness of the rear bumper. i have the 2010 without any trailer hitch and was curious if you have found that all the escape's rear bumper are so flimsy? i was in a small fender bender with just paint damage, which led me to realize how flimsy the bumper was.

All vehicles have flimsy bumpers in this day and age. They are designed that way to give, and absorb the shock of a collision.

Bumper "covers" which are found on almost all vehicles now are flimsy and made out of polyurethane. The bumper "bars" that are behind the covers and attached to the body structure/frame are the ones that absord the impact. Having a trailer hitch or not does not make a difference. The bumper you see and feel flimsy is all just for cosmetic purposes.
