2009 Forester 30K replace Spark Plugs???

The maintenance guide for my 2009 Subaru Forester Premium NON Turbo under federal specifications recommends replacing the spark plugs every 30K miles for the NON turbo 2009 Subaru Forester is this really necessary??

30K seems to be a really short interval between changing spark plugs.

What would be a good time to change Spark Plugs??

I have a 2010 Forester Premium X and did not have the spark plugs changed at 30K service a while ago. Today I was in for an oil change and asked the service mannager the same question. He looked up the spark plugs for my car via the VIN# and found out that my car came with platinum plugs. So they should be changed around 90 - 100K.

Subaru requires a plug change at 30K for NA and 60K for Turbo. They are different engines, SOHC vs DOHC. If you believe that Subaru erred in requiring the NA plug change at 30K, or do not wish to pay for a change at 30K, many like-minded people have left them in longer with no ill effect.
