Lincoln LS V8 Premium

I have a 2003 lincoln LS v8 107,000 miles, For some reason sometimes when I drive down the road it hesitates to shift into any gear, Sometimes it SLAMS into gear an then the rest of the drive its fine. Is the tranny already shot at 107k? or is it a coil problem? thanks for the help
