Headlight bulb replace for 328xi

sjkbmwsjkbmw Member Posts: 4
I am trying to replace the bulb in my 2008 328xi, and I am trying to remove the power socket from the bulb. It looks like it should unplug by just pulling the socket off the prongs of the bulb but it doesn't budge. It doesn't look like there is anything to push or squeeze to release the socket. Has anybody been successful in replacing their headlight bulb.

Is there a locking ring that needs to be turned first?

    Good call!

I looked it up in my Bentley manual, and assuming its a halogen bulb, the manual calls for the following actions:

Detach the electrical connector at the rear of the bulb: Unlock the bulb retainer (the diagram shows this being done by a counter-clockwise rotation of approx. 90 degrees: Pull bulb out of the reflector hole.

There are no special instructions for removing the electrical connector from the bulb.
