steering wheel flaking

My 2006 RL is still in good shape except the steering wheel cover (film) is flaking off. They want over 700 for another steering wheel at acura.
Any ideas on saving but yet I don't want one of those cheesy covers from rhe rack at the local car wash.?

    I don't know why you would buy a cheesy steering wheel cover at a local car wash either. There are a ton of nicer ones for sale on Amazon.com (that fit the 06 RL) for under $50.
