Grand Marquis slipping into gear

tad45tad45 Member Posts: 2
I have a 2005 Grand Marquis that has trouble getting into gear. When I shift into reverse, it takes a couple seconds to get into gear. Also when I'm moving forward it sometimes seems to slip when shifting gears.

It your fluid level accurate/is it clean?

I usually wouldn't rec additives, but many have had success with these Ford trannys using Lucas Transmission Fix. If I had this problem and my fluid was good and properly full I'd try the Lucas.

    Good luck.

Change the fluid to Mercon V or similar semi synthetic. Replace the filter while in there and if that doesn't improve the performance, then maybe try the Lucas which is very thick & will develop your patience while pouring.

The fluid levels are accurate and as far as I know clean. The transmission fluid was a dark reddish color which I thought was a good thing.

I can try to change the filter and transmission fluid, and the Lucas as well-

    Thanks!
