2008 528i sluggish cold start

In the last month or so I've noticed that the car turns over sluggishly during a cold start. Subsequent starts are great. There are only 52,300 miles on the car and no previous engine malfunctions. The last oil change was about 6,000 miles ago. I am the original owner and this is the first time I've noticed the starting issue.

What could be causing this?
