Preparing for the winter

ginsburg1ginsburg1 Member Posts: 1
I have a Toyota Corolla MY 2010, approximately 50K miles on it. What should I do with my car to prepare for the snowy winter?

I've heard that I should replace the antifreeze, change the tires, etc. I don't want to be taken in to do any fixes I shouldn't have to pay for. What are the essential changes I need to make to my car for the winter?

Thanks!

If you have the original tires on it, they should be replaced. I'd recommend the Michelin Defender if you want a good all-season tire. For snow tires, Michelin X Ice.

You don't need to change the coolant.

Have you changed the engine air filter and cabin air filter at 30k miles? If not, you must do this now - takes 5 minutes total.

You MIGHT need to change the battery.

    Other than that, nothing.

    Check your owner's manual.
