Looks like the competition (from Honda and Ford) has caught or surpassed the Toyota Camry Hybrid (TCH) in real world mpg #'s and feature content.

Looks like Toyota's per-eminence in hybrid technology is getting dated when compared to the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid and the 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid, and needs to up it's game.

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid MPG #'s Slammed by Consumer Reports!

As some on the Camry Hybrid board have noted (lester_eng, and rickpoole) there may be something 'fishy' in Honda's mpg claims for their 2014 Accord Hybrid (~ 48 mpg), and now Consumer Reports confirms Honda's inflated mpg claims (CR found ~ 40 mpg vs 48 mpg claimed by Honda) and is highly critical of them for misleading the public (check the following links: (http:// "http://editorial.autos.msn.com/consumer-reports-blasts-honda-accord-hybrid-mpg-claim?icid=autos_5679") , and (http:// "http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/honda/accord/sedan-hybrid-4-cyl.htm"). All Hybrids fell short of their EPA numbers in CR testing(except CR Z). Notice the results are based on more highways miles than city type driving.

After reading the reviews for the Ford Fusion; I still prefer my Camry Hybrid. Acceleration is smooth and I actually 45 mpg the other day. The more I drive, the better MPG.

Consumer Reports did not really focus on the different modes of the Camry Hybrid. BIG difference in MPG between normal, ECO and EV. I get 48 avg driving mixed in ECO mode. In normal mode, I get 38. The Camry is unbelievably smooth and unlike Honda or Ford, it is one of the most reliable cars out there. Ford?!?! LOL, you get 0 mpg when you are driving a loaner all the time, same for Honda. Too many problems to even put those other hybrids in the same mix with the Camry.
