When I turn on the A/C or the Heat I cannot set it to both the Windshield and the Leg. I thought it was by design untill my friend today said that it works for him in his Sonata.

Is this by design or is something wrong with my Sonata?

I don't understand your question. What do you mean by "heat"? On my GLS, "heat" means I set the mode to "floor" (or "leg"?) and turn the temperature to be warmer. I can turn on the A/C in any mode I want: floor, vent, defrost, or combinations of those including defrost (windshield) and floor (leg).

So there may be something wrong with the HVAC system on your car, you might want to have the dealer check it out. Read the owner's manual first to make sure you are operating it as it's designed to be operated.
