Isuzu Trooper Key Stuck in the ignition, Shifter wont stick into park

So I took off my dashboard to replace a heater core, when I put it back on everything worked EXCEPT I couldnt take the key out, I can put the car in park but it can slide out in other gears if I pull it (like if you slide it from neutral to drive) So I know that is the reason the key wont come out. My question is Why? and How? I didnt touch anything on the shifter except unplugging it.
Any help or guesses would be appreciated!
