"The results seem to suggest that men are more concerned with power and prestige than their pocketbook, says Jessica Caldwell, senior analyst at Edmunds. “Brands with high male percentage tend to be more performance-oriented,” she says.

“Women car shoppers tend to be more pragmatic, so the value brands are at the top,” Caldwell says. Vehicles like compact crossovers and compact cars tend to also score high with women.”

And now I know why I don't wear a watch or cologne although I could see myself in a Tesla. If the minivan ever dies....

Fun article, so basically, men are more likely to, well, like cars :)
The pragmatic and sensible female stuff at the end sounds amazing compared to in my zipcode, where the it seems the vast majority of silly luxo-SUVs aren't driven by men.

I'm not sure females have inherent differences in vehicle preferences, but I think it might be easy to misconstrue what they are driving. They frequently seem to be the ones hauling kids around, so even if they'd prefer a convertible, their lifestyle responsibilities may drive their vehicle more than their personal preference. I'd want to know more about how this survey was conducted and analyzed personally.
