blown fuse

i have a 1991 suburban 1500 two wheel drive and recently i had an instrument lamp fuse blow needing to know if its possible for that to cause the alternator to stop charging but my battery went dead and i can get jumped and drive like three or four miles turn it off and it wont start right back up but if i wait about two hours and try it again it will start then without a jump could that be a dead cell or can that blown fuse cause the alternator to stop charging
