2014 Mazda CX-5 vs Subaru Outback

My new wife and I are considering our first car together. We don't have kids, but plan to within a 2-3 years. We kind of like the look of the CX-5 better, but the Outback might be more practical? Is the CX-5 big enough for kids, down the road? Which one's value hold longer? Is maintenance higher on one? Which one should we buy!?!

If you haul a lot of tires, the CX-5 is definitely the one to choose. :D

The one in the Edmunds long term fleet seems to be plenty roomy and seems to be holding up well.

We just traded a 2008 Subaru Legacy for a new 2014 CX-5. Our Subaru had 49,000 miles and showed $13,500 on KBB as far as trade value. We were shocked how little interest dealers had in Subaru's though. We got $11k for it but not easily. Several dealers told us that Subaru lags behind Mazda and the other Japanese brands in real world resale value. We love the CX-5 by the way. And we have a 4 year-old - no issues with a car seat. Good luck!
