Transmission Failure? 1991 Dodge Dakota.
1991 Dodge Dakota, 4 cylinder, manual transmission.
I was driving down the highway and there was a sharp jerk. The engine cut out and I coasted onto an exit ramp. It won't restart unless I hold down the clutch. If I release the clutch, even in neutral, the engine cuts out. If I hold down both clutch and the gas pedal, it makes a "clacking" sound.
Any Ideas? Any chance that the transmission might be savable?
